While we're on the topic of boat lifts, I have a question regarding my cousin's lift. Seeing as I don't live on a lake, my MC spends the entire time on the trailer, so I really don't know much about boat lifts. Anyways, she has a Shorestation, and the rear 2X6 has a pair of smaller 2X6's about 2' long that are on pivots, but the front of the boat just rests on the 2X6, and it looks like the keel is digging into the 2X6. Surprisingly, the keel doesn't look damaged at all. Is this how most of your lifts are set up? Or should she have bunks running parallel to the keel, like the trailers? Just curious, I'd hate to see her ski boat get damaged (even if it isn't a MC) :purplaugh
Thanks,
Kevin

MasterCraft makes kind of a big deal that the keel shouldn't rest on the cross-member. The standard for inboards appears to be full-length bunks that run the length of the boat, lifting the whole thing off the cross member.

My neighbor had that hoist before he got an MC, he added bunks to it with the advice of the MC dealer. He had his old boat (19ft Century) for 15 years and never had a problem.
