View Full Version : 1993 Ski Nautique

Alright guys, I know we all have our opinions but I need some brief information. I have a chance to pick up a 1993 Ski Nautiqe for $4,000. Long story but its a real deal. Boat is in excellent shape except the gel coat if faded. Thats not a big deal and a easy fix. I need to know what year Nautique switched to fiberglass stringers and what people think of the ski wake? This would just be a boat that would stay at the river house for friends and family to use. Even with that purpose, there are a few that would like to get good sets behind it. What are the flaws on this boat for this year?

Thanks,
Taylor

Sounds like a score to me!

Can't remember but I don't think you want anything previous to the TSC-1 hull which was in the 90's. But I think it wasn't until the '97. Certainly could be wrong about that...

Buddy of mine has a 93 sport nauty girl that is glass. The ski wake seemed to be the same as my 92 Maristar so nothing to right home about. If you are just out free skiing it would be fine and at 4k who could complain about it?

You are correct, Total Surface Control began in 1997. Sounds like a great deal.

Yea, I'd heard about the TSC-1 as a good wake but it's been a long time since my research. And I was more focused on the SN 206 and MC 205.

Does it still have a carb engine? Assume a Ford 351??

Obviously Eastie is the expert on SN's so hopefully he can shed some more light for you. Still sounds like a decent deal if it has a great ski wake!

Yes, 93 is the first year of no wood stringers. Good boat. Ski wake is fine. Little bit of a bump in the middle. Kind of firm, but nothing to sweat. Tracking will be rock solid. Standard gear reduction will make you happy, too. Wake isn't as good as a 97 forward TSC era boats, but a very good boat nonetheless.

A steal at $4,000 if you want to put the elbow grease into bringing the shine back.

I think it depends on what your plans for the boat are. Is this to fix it up and re-sell?

Personally, Id rather ski behind your 197. I do not think Nautique became the king of slalom boats till about 1997. After that, theres not comparison Nautiques slalom wakes are far better than MC.

Sounds like a great plan. Keep your boat from the newbies while you are away so it's not getting trashed and you don't go all MCOCD on them.

93-96 are the same boats.

We have a club member with a 96 and people B!tched about how my boat would be better to ski behind and all this that's the wrong year CC boat horse chit at a club function.

I grabbed my ski and took a ride behind his boat. I ran -35 in early spring and then drove for him. I actually thought driving his boat in the course was better than my boat. Wakes were different and would take getting used to at -35 and shorter. The CC has a bath tub effect where the wake dips down further than my boat. The -22 through -32 were nothing to complain about.

I agree with ETS 100%

It's a fine ski boat especially for the price.

yeah, I re-read that he was gonna keep it after I posted.

I wasn't saying the wake was bad, it's just not as nice as say kyles 93 PS190 or my 93PS205 or Phntmski's 91 PS190. Its definitely harder at any line length, not just 35 and up, but still skiable. My point was if my 93 and that 93 SN were sitting side by side and I was offered a pull, I'd pick mine over that boat all day long.

Its being left at the river for family and free skiing. So I doubt the wake is bad enough to refuse a pull. I'd imagine in good skier could ski just as well behind it as a MC of the same year. Might not like it as much but I doubt it will affect the performance of the skier.

For the purpose of this boat, I feel it's to good to pass up.

Its the same year and color as the picture Kyle has in his post. It think a good gel coat buffing and cleaning will make this boat very nice.. upholstry is in great shape and no damage to the gel coat anywhere.... dash and guages look great... mildew stains on the upholstry and faded gel is all I could find. It has the 351 in it... hasn't ran in a year but they are going to run it tonight...

The "No Wake Zone" Ski Nautique hull was actually the same 1990-1996. I consider any 1990+ Ski Nautique to have a great slalom wake (worlds better than the 2001 hull that was used through '89). 1997+ (TSC and newer) hulls are world class. The No Wake Zone hull is one of the best all around performers ever made- it has a great trick wake, and can even make a decent wakeboard wake if you add enough weight (the shape is decent). With the HO 351w (ProBoss or GT40 EFI), 46-48mph is typical- so it moves out pretty well.

I do agree that the 1991-1994 PS190 slalom wake is smaller, but the SN has less spray and tracks better. It is also roomier inside.

$4k is a steal for a boat in decent shape (especially if the interior is nice, as a factory set of skins will run north of $2500). '93 was the first year for all glass construction, so thats an added bonus.

Given the shape you say it is in. For $4K, I would be tempted to drive to Tx, bring it home, shine it up and sell it for a profit. I sold an 95 Bayliner for $7800 a couple of years back.

Agree they are pretty nice. Course driving was like it was on a Train Track. Very Very solid and straight driving boat.

46-48 mph too lol, I ran into my buddy at a public lake and he took off thinking he would beat me to the island to go have some beers. I walked him very slightly guessing 1-2 mph but I was going 46.5gps so yes those boats are pretty quick stock. His was EFI and he had 4 people and my 190 only had a date with me. Im sure that there were other differences.

I like his boat a lot. He even bought the right color......Blue or Red His is blue

Sea trials yet?

I bought a 19'5" 93 Mailbu skier recently for $3500 for many of the same reasons discussed above, with only an engine run test, which went super...ran like a sewing machine after PM's recent rebuild (350 5.7 L comp skier engine). No time for the real test as the guy next to me wanted to buy without one.

She was, however, more unloved than yours I'm sure, plus being a sea creature with all those drawbacks...

Long story short, I'm still working on gage sensors, replaced the bent shaft (added dripless shaft seal though), frozen thermostat in a rusting out housing...B.O.A.T

Still glad I got her though, so far, a porche (so light) on the water when I'm done, I hope.

I will instruct her not to wear the ole Motorcycle chain as it may get someones upholstery dirty. I will also make sure that she is crystal clear that whatever you guys tell her is Law and she must obey every order given.

You are more than likely to have whatever bed time fantacy you want with her as well.

This will not be a Lease purchase type deal or any kind of fund transaction, so put away the credit cards and log off of your pay pal account.

This is what we call a full donation to a fellow Mastercraft owner.

Let me know if any of you are interested.

I will not Donate her for SL

The club will have to rent her from me. I think the going rate is at least a few $100 an hour.

Actually the looser that wins her as a prize has to keep her and feed her until next weeks ski league.

Careful what you wish for as your GF might be winning her all 8 weeks. Then you can take her home for Both of you to share.

Remember Mark. You have to keep feeding her.......

All I need is the destination address so that the cattle hauler will know the exact location to deliver.

As soon as you can get this done for me, the faster Mike can take delivery of his new ballast system. I will insure that the cargo is properly fed and that shipping will be expedited.

I will also need Mike to sign a delivery reciept upon delivery stating that he took delivery and that the cargo was properly cared for during the haul. That documentation will also state that he is now the owner of this fine piece of work and that the caring of this individual is 100% his at the time of delivery. It will also disclose that there will be no returns on the shipment. That part will of course be in the fine print at the bottom but who cares.

I think you need to call ROY from 'Shipping wars' and let that a-hole deliver the ballast girl friend. When he gets there with her, then him & Mikey can have some bonding time and talk about why he took the picture down.:(:uglyhamme:uglyhamme

Ok, my pm box is full with requests that I repost the pic of Kyles women. Maybe the mods, (MOD) won't MISTAKENLY take her down again, like I know happened last time. If he does, I will personally send her HIS address so she can pay him a lil visit to straighten his a$$ out!:D So at the risk of being banned for the first time in my long tenure here, here she is again fella's!
BTW, this is NOT just a random internet photo! Hell No! Kyle, himself, took this pic and texted it to me! it also fried my damn phone too!

Well my fat GF was picked up yesterday and the driver never asked me where the delivery destination was.

He loaded her and said she's headed East to the "Peach State".

I have no idea what that ment. He was like 6-1 or 6-2 and pretty lean and drove a peterbuilt with a bull hauler behind it. He had made mention that he didn't need directions as he knew exactly where he was going. I assume he had been there before.

She left wearing the motorcycle chain just as you see in the pic. She even took her heels and the tiny seat she was about to crush along with her. (I would not allow her to sit on the couch and break down, squash, or smash the coushions or create a low spot on one end, so I made her sit on that tiny chair)

She left nothing behind either. Now I can move the refrigerator from the living room back to its spot in the kitchen.
