OMG, you Texas guys are so lucky!!!!
Oklahoma City just opened one, 4 hours away :(

I went and tried 1/2 pound of their brisket...
turned right and ordered 1 1/2 pounds to take home, plus bought a T-Shirt

I only buy a restaurant t-shirt for places with great food & service:rolleyes:

It's pretty good stuff. Try the potato stuffed with chopped beef next time. Also quite tasty.

I saw it on menu, but I was already in the hole $100.00 on fuel, food, and a t-shirt:o

edit:
but, it was money well spent :)

There's always next time. But, as good as it is, there is better out there. But it's pretty good Texas gas station food. ;)

I am a huge fan of Rudy's. I always get a bottle of their BBQ sauce for here. Nothing like it in San Diego!

I like it. We used to make it a stop on the way back from a day at the lake, but have not been to one in a little while. Their brisket did seem to be a touch on the dry side for me, but pretty good overall.

Rudy’s is pretty good...

For those of you in the DFW area need to try (no particular order):

1. Angelos BBQ – White Settlement Road in Ft. Worth (cash only)
2. Lone Star BBQ in Ft. Worth (Beach Street at Western Center) (my fave)
3. Lakeway BBQ near Lake Lavon
4. And lets not forget Clarks Outpost in Tioga, TX near Lake Ray Roberts

Clarks is at the top of the list in my book. Not the very top, but a close second.

Back in the early 90's I built one of the smokers and repaired one of the others at Clark's. After welding inside the "seasoned" smoker all day I could have ate my shirt and pants. Ate there Sunday night. Check out Texas Monthly magazine's top 50 list for BBQ in Texas and that will get you started on a good debate. They also have a list of the top 50 burger places too. Alamo Springs Cafe is a great hamburger stop when in the Hill Country.

Yep, I have done it via bike, motorcycle and sports car - a great drive any way you choose.

I'm sure it's not the best Texas has to offer, but I always make sure I stop in at Cousin's BBQ everytime I connect through the DFW airport. It's by far the best airport food I've had.

You're right. I forgot two more here in DFW:

Soulmans BBQ in Rockwall
Bakers Ribs in Rockwall

How are you not 400lbs

If I ate BBQ as much as you do, I would have to order a ski that is 2' wide and 8' long and 2" thick so that it would support my fat ars...

Another + for Rudy's

Rudy's is awesome!
The ones in Albuquerque have the best green chili stew too. They use all the trimmings/shavings from the butcher tables so it's a bbq meat smorgasboard with green chili.

Franklin BBQ in Austin is top of the heap. I do enjoy Salt Lick quite a bit though.

If you are ever in this part of Texas, Stanley's is excellent.

Stanley's!!! Never leave Tyler, TX without trying it. Rudy's is really awesome and my favorite place to go but a Brother In Law from Stanley's is tough to beat.

We just went on a great cruise to Progresso and Cozumel. We had a day extra to spend with the little woman's family in Houston. Feasted on brisket, smoked turkey, spicy and regular sausage, corn, beans... the works. We even dove into a bowl of peppers/carrots to get the whole Rudys experience. :firejump:

"I can not tell a lie... Tis TASTY"! Not a first timer - I did buy a shirt though... Living in Kansas City, I get to sample lots of BBQ. I can't say I have a favorite. Depends what I have a craving for. I like Haywards, Gates, Oklahoma Joes, RJ's Bob-Be-Que might be my fav in KC.
