I am selling a 94' MasterCraft pro star 205. I am the second owner and have had this boat for 2 seasons. Not a single problem with it either. Boat has around 700 hours on it. It has a up graded carburetor which is fuel injected, starts right up! The colors are teal and black which looks very nice and looks like a newer model. Comes with trailer. The boat has a Monster tower, wakeboard, full set of component speakers amped. I still have the original manual and everything. Two seats need re-upholystering, which I will get done. I am looking to get $15,000. The boat is in winter storage up in Antioch right now. I can have pictures if requested. pm me with any questions!

I can have pictures up soon. I have to look and see if I have any recent ones. The boat is shrink wrapped right now at a marina. The rear seat and observer seat need re-upholestering, which I will do unless you want to do it yourself, which I can deduct from the price.

so it it carbed, or fuel injected?

shocker47
11-12-2012, 03:38 PM
I am not sure. All I know is it has a upgraded carb and starts right up. So I'm guessing injected? Here is a picture.
BTW this was before detailing the engine. And the hoses are off because of winterization.

Looks to be a carb (non-fuel injection). Ford engine.....

Nice looking boat!

Guessing this is not a 94 based on the engine pics. Probably 93 since it has the lifting shocks on the engine box. The 4160 carb is a good upgrade to the OEM carb on that 285 hp 351 HO. What is the Hull ID?

Looks clean and I bet it runs great. It's not the same engine I have in my 94, which is a Indmar Chevy 350. The alternator is on the opposite side and the distributor is at the opposite end. That says a Ford engine to me. Why two different manufacturers in the same year??? Sorry or the jack.

It's unusual, at the least. I am unaware of any Fords, or any carbs for that matter, in MCs 94 and newer. If it is, in fact, an OEM 94 with a carbureted Ford, it must have been a carryover engine from 93. Post that hull ID if/when you have a chance.

Had a 93' PS205 exactly like the pic, minus the tower. The shape of the drivers seat says it is a 93 or newer. The 92's had a different drivers seat. Could be a 94 though, I too am waiting to see what the hull ID code is.

I could have sworn I saw one of your older posts recently when you said it was a 93. Double check your Hull ID. You may have a super rare 94 with a carbureted Ford.

This is a funny discussion... But I am in the camp that it is a '93 as well. I thought its been well documented on here that the 205 started going with EFI in '94.

Regardless, that boat looks amazingly clean for a 19 yr old boat.

It is. But to be fair, a huge difference comes to mind when talking about 94 Pro Stars versus most 93 Pro Stars in the engine department. It's just a mistake (obviously). The seller is clearly not trying to hide the ball given the prominent engine photo, which is what generated the discussion. But the words 94 Mastercraft and carbureted Ford don't show up too often. So you can hardly blame us. :)

To the OP, sorry for helping sidetrack this thread. You have a great boat and I wish you good luck with your sale.

/edit. Hadn't seen the OP's posts below the quoted one before posting this. Glad it's all cleared up. Again, good luck with the sale.

Shocker, the shipping is an old joke here from TT and I couldn't resist. Has nothing to do with your sale. I probably should have refrained.

I need to get a quote on shipping and think about this a little more.

There is an almost identical '94 (actual '94) FS on CL for a very reasonable price.

How about this? $12,500 and you deliver the boat to MA? You sell the tower which covers your fuel expense. It's a long ride, but can be done in a 2 day weekend. Takes shipping out of my equation and you only invest time in travel to get a fair price for your boat. No hidden joke in this offer.

I just don't know why this is such a secret sale.

It's not hard to post up pics and no one on an open thread has seen your boat. You will not get rid of anything in 6-8 weeks on here without a bunch of pics of the item you are selling.

If you are concerned about the registration numbers or license plate then edit that out of the pics.

Other than that, you make this feel like a scam

I had a little interest but moved on to a newer boat. To be honest, I thought of offering you $10K and doubt you would have taken it. If you want to sell it you need to go get it. Uncover it and clean it spotless. Take a ton of pics and advertise on Only Inboards and Boat Trader Online. It won't hurt to put it on Ski It Again and then run a new ad here. Right now a lot of people are getting the new boat itch and selling older MC's. I've seen the ads pick up in the past week or two. In the next two months you will get buyers looking for a deal and as such you will need to let it go for less than optimum. Keep until May and you will get top dollar. JMO and I wish you well with the sale and hope you prove me wrong.

Good advice. May and June are top dollar sales months for used boats. If it isn't sold by the 4th of July, prices start to drop again.

In my non scientific opinion, its the older boats that get top dollar in May - June. Anything older than 10 years (arbitrarily). I think the newer used boats get top dollar earlier when current owners get the itch to upgrade well before the season starts.

That is probably spot on. Assuming it is due to financing vs. impulse purchasing issues.

Well I can't answer the test drive question, the stringers are definatly not wood, mastercraft has not used wood stringers since 1983 or 1984...

I know you don't have immediate access, but I cannot stress enough that pictures sell a boat. Big, BIG pictures. Lots of closeups and a writeup that reads like a love letter.

Not trying to show off or anything, but I sold my 93 on here in less than a month. If you want it gone, you need to pepper this thread with good pictures and a very first-hand type write up chronicling the good, the bad, and the beautiful. You have a very desirable model, no matter the age. In good condition, it can fetch top dollar. I had plenty of people tell me I was out of my mind. Some people (not on this site) were flat out rude about it. But, in the end, I found the right buyer, who still owns and loves the boat.
