My motor is coming back together, a 351 Windsor from a 1990 Prostar. I need to replace the harmonic balancer I think, its in two pieces and Im having trouble figuring out which one I need as a replacement. There seems to be a tremendous variety. What do you guys suggest and from where?

Also, Im looking a a new fuel pump. I found that skidim.com has the one I need. Looks like item #0406 http://www.skidim.com/products.asp?dept=1058 . The question is does there need to be anything else bought with this pump. The description says that mine might look different, and it does. Here is mine.

Is the black part under the corroded pump "body" part of the entire assembly? Or is in something that gets added to the pump on skidim?

Thanks in advanced!

I would take the balancer to a speed shop so they can advise on a replacement- they'd be the best place, IMO.

If you're referring to the black part that has a metal strap with a small bolt at the bottom, that's where the filter is located. If you loosen the small bolt, the metal strap will move out of the way and the cup will come off.

Does that mean the pump may be good and I just need to find the filter?

It may be good and only needs to be cleaned up. Looks like it was in/near salt water, though. You can clamp it down and move the level to see if it still works, or if it leaks. If you just want to be sure, you can replace it- they're not terribly expensive. Always replace the gasket and make sure to get the cam (it moves the lever) in the right position when you install it.

Im leaning towards just replacing the whole unit really.
