So ... anyone else ever not hold a rifle tight enough and have the scope recoil into their forehead;) Had to get a band aid from the 70 year old rangemaster, I'd post a pic but ... nothing a little superglue won't fix.

My brother and I went to the range so that he could pass his hunters safety exam, he went away with a passing score (used my dad's .270), I went away with a bandaid;) What a jackass! Actually though, I have never been to a rifle range, just a few pistol ranges ... aside from the cut it was pretty fun:)

It happens if you shoot enough. Hurts like a SOB for a while. I have not had that happen in quite a while though. Don't worry the swelling goes down in a matter of days and yu now have abattle scar to brag about.

Well we know you have at least one good shooting habit and that is keeping your head down.. BTW we are in the midst of our "A" zone season here in Calif. My son got a forked horn on 8/27 and I got a 4x4 on 9/3.

Ya know if you're going to shoot, shoot a real gun! ;) Barret .50 cal with scope, 10 in the clip, semi-automatic, bad mo-fo.

Brian's .50 cal makes what I'm going to mention look like chicken feed. But I have one rifle in my arsenal that I've never fired, partially because I don't hunt anymore, and partially because I used to watch my dad shoot it and recall the recoil as being fierce. .270 Wetherby Magnum. I need to clean it and take it to the range sometimes just for grins.

Sign Me UP!!!!!!

I actually did hunt with a friends 350magnum in Colorado once.
Never found the trophy we were looking for but at the end of season, fired a few rounds and that thing would do some damage! It was ported so it wouldn't recoil as bad as you might imagine but the porting made it unbearably LOUD!

Pendo,

I had one real similar to that one time got it from my Rem. .300 ultra mag. :o Probably not as much recoil as Brian's 50 but enough to really bust my face up pretty good.

I bet you made a good shot though getting poped in the face is a sure sign you didn't flinch before the shot.

/Loves guns and shooting sports.

Actually guys that Barrett has very little recoil. It has a helacious spring in it. It's a very easy rifle to shoot. Obviously it's intended to be fired in the prone position or from a turret. But, at the time we all thought it would be "cool" to get a shot shoulder firing. That thing is heavy!!

The one that did me in was between the 8/9 ring;) Actually, if you look at the forehead you will notice a smaller ring above the deeper one, that one was the 7 ring. Fortunately there was not 3rd times a charm (not yet). Target is/was 100yds.

I got scoped 2 years ago when I shot my 6 x 7 Bull Elk in Colorado. I didn't even know I did it til about 30 minutes after I shot em and the blood was running down my face. (The excitement took away the pain) It hurt like a biatch the rest of the trip but nothing the bottle didn't cure in the evenings

I put a couple handloads through my 45-70, then let myself get tagged by a buddy's 30-06 firing the old 55 gr. accelerators. It had those scope rings that are extra tall so you could look underneath at the metal sights. Nothing Miller Light and Tylenol didn't cure.

Ah yes, the ole 30-06. Thats what gave me my mark. 180 grain Noslers. Yep I got razzed quite a bit by the rest of the camp.

I'm sure it would not be safe, but it would be a lot of fun to get some paintball guns out on the water ... beer involved, of course ... and more importantly, your buddies boat!

Ric - the island is right across for out place on the water ... [http://maps.google.com/maps?q=priest+river,+id&ll=48.174700,-116.964912&spn=0.014573,0.035959&t=h&hl=en if you see the boat in the middle ... the elk was (relatively) right across standing there eating (200 yds from the dock) ... every summer there are a few elk/deer that hang out there ... crazy to watch them swim across the river, but they are good swimmers.

The cabin I was so "PUMPED UP" about going to;) No, that one near the same body of water but near the end of the Pend Oreille Lake ... it is so remote ... when we went up the two other couples parked their cars and bummed a ride of me for the 1hr drive on the dirt road, I'm still pumped about it, but it did score points with my wife ... thing is points get deducted faster than they are earned sometimes. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=priest+river,+id&ll=47.992564,-116.516705&spn=0.029249,0.071918&t=h&hl=en here is where it is, somewhere in the middle but it is not lakefront, just lakeview beautiful, but in the MIDDLE OF BUMM F' EGYPT (aka bfe)

Seems like the platform would work well for hauling one back!

Really cool to have outside your window!

Leopold?

You sound like you have a pretty hard head ;) Is the scope OK?

If it's a Leopold the lifetime warranty will make sure the glass is in like new condition. Send it in and they'll check it.

I always shoot my AK-47's from the hip...

Funny thing is wherever I show up, after taking the AK's out, everyone else seems to go away... Funny reputation that rifle has..

First time to the rifle range and you desire to practice with a howitzer :D Bust that man down to a .22 hehe

Rick last time I was at the range a guy comes strolling in with a kick butt .50 the barrel looked to be about 5ft long. Man that thing had a blast that rang in your ears for the rest of the day
