I know that indmar ised the shorter Pz3 filter and some have indicated they were using the longer version without any clearance issues. Since my boat isnt here, i was wondering if anyone has used the longer oil filters with these boats? Mine is model year 2001.

Thanks
Ross

Short answer . . . yes. On both my former X5 and now my X2. (same hull as 205V)

What is the advantage in going longer?

Longer filter has more surface area for filtration which means less pressure drop or chance of bypassing if filter gets dirty. Also slightly more oil capacity.

I have used the AC PF-1218 or the WIX equivalent on my Silverado since I got it and used them on boats when clearance allowed. I use the longer filter on my Astro, too- that little dinky POS that's OEM is just too small to do any good, IMO.
