So for some reason I dedided to take the advise of someone on this board and use "the works" bathroom cleaner on my rudder to clean up some of the corrosion. Long story short, in my opinion it looks worse.

I searched the forum and couldnt find any info so I wanted to open this up to the floor. Outside of spending hours and hours polishing the under carriage what can I do to clean up the rudder/ strut and get it to look like new?

Is there a paint I can use, or somthing I can do to improve the look?

Do you want to be polished or just cleaned up? I would go Brasso if I wanted to get it brighter in color but it will tarnish quickly.

Well the works cleaner made out a rust color, or maybe a Cooper color. I was looking to bring it back to the gray look it had before .

I think it is NiBrAl and copper is the natural color. Pics would help...

Mothers metal polish would work to help bring it back to the original color as well. It will require some elbow grease too. As the metal tarnishes, it will turn more of a grey color. It should have a brass look.
