Hey everyone, what are your opinions? I know the comp vests are much more flexible and comfortable than most CGA vests.

Has anyone had any grief from law enforcement or wildlife officers when using a comp vest without an observer in the boat?

Depends on your local laws... i.e. if you practicing on a marked course - however you must have a CGA vest in the boat. I took a spill this summer and glad I was wearing a CGA vest...was under longer than I expected...

I've worn both, use a non-approved vest currently.

I think many of the non-approved vest products are actually far superior for ski vests, as many have much more comfortable arm holes/don't chafe the inner arms, and some even have some torso protection.

Also after blowing open a USCG approved vest on an out the front and having the vest be opened by the impact, am not certain about the "approval" meaning safer for skiing.

What was the age of the approved vest when it blew open...

Maybe a season? Season and a Half? Its still in use by people for general vest stuff, but USCG does not mean high quality zippers.

You don't want to, believe me a full on superman chest plant makes you feel like you folded in half.
