I am looking at replacing my current rig with a Raptor. Any body on here own one? or have any pros or cons on them? I have had every vehicle under the sun at some point in my life. I really enjoyed my last vehicle which was a sierra denali. It had the 6.2l which I loved for the power of a gas motor. And Ford offers a 6.2l in the Raptor which kinda draws me in, and besides they look kinda bada$$!
Any body have questions, comments, concerns about the Raptor?

I was getting some tractor parts recently and I asked an older gentlman that pulled into the parking lot the same time I did how he liked his truck. He had a Raptor with the 6.2L version. This guy was awesome, mid 70s. He told me how many sports cars he's had and about the Porsches and Ferrari's he has. He said he has no ambition to drive those now that he has the Raptor. He claimed its his all time favorite vehicle.

I don't know what I was more impressed with, the guy driving the truck or the truck.

The first few model years had issues with the frame cracking, poor design. No idea if Ford addressed the issue and I haven't stayed informed of ongoing issues either. It was from guys actually using the trucks offroad and jumping them as designed and advertised. I haven't searched on the issue lately but there were a number of reports and pics online. Just don't offroad it. :D

Disclaimer - I am not stating facts or personal knowledge, just what I saw on truck and car forums. So it must be true.

Seriously - might be worth researching.....

No direct contact with a Raptor, though I am a Ford guy. Word is they don't pull trailers well as the suspension is set-up too soft.

well the only thing I would really pull to much with it would be my boat, which is pretty light in the big scheme of things. The dudes on the Fast n Loud on discovery channel(I think thats what is called) pull a car trailer all over the earth pretty much with theres. It doesnt look like it is squatting that much(and yes I know it is tv, and not sure if has done anything to it). I am only going buy one with the 6.2l because of the power issue, a lil research cleared that up.

Still no owners on here yet???

One of my ski club members has a 2012 model and he loves it. He has the 6.2. He told the club boat with it. Though it's only the 50 feet from the shed to the ramp. If you have any specific questions I can ask him. He traded in his GT500kr on it and likes the raptor better.

Whats your input and the towing of a raptor? how bad does the back sag?

And is their any major changes inbetween the 11 and 12 models?

So...

I have a 2012 Raptor with 10K miles on it so far. It does have the 6.2 liter and it pulls my X-35 like it isn't even there. My wife has a Yukon Denali XL and I do like the suspension leveler on it, but the sag on the Raptor isn't noticable at all. The big boat pulls like a dream, the truck is badazz in my book! Feel free to call me if you have any questions or text me if you want a pic of it, I just took a good one yesterday on the way out to the lake! 316-992-6677. Cool I recommend you get one! I have a GREAT dealer here in Kansas if you need one for a smoking deal!

The rear suspension can't sag anymore than a toyota tundra! They sag so low in the rear you would swear every single one towing something is smuggling people in the bed.

It would be simple enough to put on airbags with an on-board air compressor to help when towing.

I don't think its that easy. The Raptor has a lot of rear end travel. If I remember its 14 or 18 inches of travel in the rear axle. Finding an air bag setup could be dificult and defeating the whole purpose of the vehicle.

Maybe Carli Suspension can supply one, I don't know? I know they make some Airbags for trucks with lots of suspension travel.

2006 Z71 Tahoe tow rig. Other tow rig is a 2012 Ford F350.

Last time I checked, we are all entitiled to our own opinion. And IMO, those Raptors are fugly. Not sying their not a good truck, but the styling doesn't do it for me in the least. :)

the airbag kits DO NOT fit the raptors

And is their any major changes inbetween the 11 and 12 models?power wise they have more than enough to pull. the rear suspension sags quite a bit if you haul a trailer with a large amount of tongue weight. if the trailer is set up well they arent too bad.
fuel mileage is pretty bad on them, worse when towing but then again if you're looking at raptors you probably arent real concerned with mpg's.
i would defiinitely get the crew cab, looks and rides better in my opinion.
no real difference between 11 and 12, other than appearance stuff.

overall i love them and they have been basically problem free for us. i have not had one in with any actual problems yet and we've sold quite a few.

I never suggested an off the shelf bag kit.

Do you have nav in yours? I am having a really hard time finding my ideal raptor. White or silver. nav. roof. crew. and 6.2l. and not 1000 miles away!. I found a couple w/ out nav and was curious if you have it and love it or dont have it?? I just feel like if you are gonna spend close to 50g's on a p/u it should have nav. But I have drove one w/o and I dont mind the look with no nav

The backup camera in the Nav screen is nice. Other than that I was not all that impressed with it in my SD.

Here in the wonderful Liberal high $$$$ state of Oregun our Forest Service who patrol our Sand Dunes drive Raptors, they seem to keep up with the big sand rails and quads! I want that job!:D

I have a 2012 Raptor with the 6.2 I pull my x-35 with. Before I had a ford f350 and I have to say I was a little worried about the towing difference. But all in all the Raptor pulls the boat like its not even there. It doesn't even really compress the suspension in the rear that much ether like most f150 style trucks and I have to say the ride with the boat behind the truck is way smother with the raptor than it was with the f350.
