Hi all:
Doing my build of a new x30. I am trying to decide if I should spend the extra and go for the 6.2 over the 6.0. I have only demoed the 6.0 and have not tried the 6.2. The 6.0 was fine but I am looking to see if the 6.2 is worth the extra. Thanks,

I only have the 5.7 and it does fine even with extra ballast so either motor will be better then good. If you don't mind, what was the price difference between the 3 motors?

The 6.2L is worth it! If you are going to upgrade the motor, then go for it. You will not be disappointed. The 6.2L is much easier to drive than the 6L and is much more efficient.

Going though this decision myself right now. The 6.0 is a 5K upgrade, the 6.2 is a 11.3K upgrade.

Have the 6.0 in a 25 right now, tested the 6.2 in a 30...go with the 6.2 if you have the money.

The 7.4L is available in the 30 as we delivered one. It was stupid fast! 55mph. It is a $22k retail option.

Hmmmm. According to my dealer, that is not correct. I'm just going with the info I'm given.

It's not an option on Build A Boat for the 25, 30, 35 or 45. Just sayin.

What decision??? What are you up too?? Are you considering moving away from your 45?

I can't imagine the 7.4 in a X-2. That would nuts.

You can get the 7.4 in the X-45. I have seen them......oh how tempting.

I may, or may not be, looking at ordering an X30.

Hmmm. Wonder why it's not an option on the Build a boat site?

You have me on the X-10 currently as that boat isn't even out yet, but you can get it in a X-2, X-25, X-30, X-35, X-45, X-55 and X-Star. Our techs saw Ilmor's X-2 with a 7.4L being tested and they said it was a monster.

Alright, so the 2013 Design a boat has the 7.4 as an option for the 30. I guess it wasn't for 2012?

Very good question. I will have to go check it out on build a boat.

PM on the way....

BTW - if you do make the move get the 6.2 or really open the wallet and get the 7.4. :D

It was a mid year release, but we delivered a 2012 X-30 with a 7.4L. Black and orange flake boat to match his black and orange motor.

HAA. I was honestly thinking that they should offer engine color options, for that very reason. ;)

for 11k buckeroos, you could buy an entire brand new motor and put it in an keep the 5.7

I have never understood how they can get away with that, they are giving the 5.7 absolutely no value at all

just like getting upgraded tries and wheels for 1200 bucks on a vehicle, they should give you the stockers for that price also as you are already paying for them with the base vehicle price

They are giving you a credit for that motor, because if you wanted to just buy one it would be even more. I don't know enough about motors to say what is and isn't a good deal as I have heard many people say that a big block is pretty inexpensive. Being hand built, maranized and calibrated for a boat has some merit. All I know is that the 7.4L is an amazing motor in these boats as is the 6.2L.

Either or should work, depends on what you are going to be doing with it also. All I know is that the X30 is a sick boat and the guys from MMS Saskatoon are top notch!

Yes the mms saskatoon crew have been great. It is my third mastercraft from them. The difference with discounts is about $5k to jump to the 6.2 from the 6.0. The overall consensus here is go with it if possible. Thanks everyone.

This is so true! Some can not see the forest through the trees!
