A shameless excuse to post a couple pics of my new-to-me 05 X2. But I do have a question -- what is under the white cover at the starboard rear of the passenger compartment? Looks like it should come off but doesn't. The PO didn't know.

It's a step and Does not lift. Pull the rear bench cushion and u can gain access. Just small storage,

Congrats on the boat.....nice lookin!

Yep, I thought the same, but it's just a step. At least I think it's meant to be stepped on as you step in the boat. I don't think I or anyone has ever used it as a step :) congrats! Beautiful boat. Looks like the trailer sat outside, buff those trailer fenders!!!

Thanks guys. A step -- that makes sense! What was confusing is that there there is an indentation under the cover as if it were a fingerhold.

It does look like that in the pic but it must be the angle of the sun; the finish is actually very clear and crisp.

Welcome to the 205V hull club. Once you get one they're hard to give up. I love the red, I chose between all red and all white in 2006 when I bought my all white, can't go wrong with either.

BTDT--And to take it one step further, I can tell you that the factory glued the step tread down w/ an adhesive that looks like liquid nails:o

Is my color Viper Red or Pro Tour Red? I know that MC used both in 2005.

And yes, I was after a hull and configuration that was family-friendly but could also met the needs of slalom skiers (mostly me), wakeboarders (mostly my kids) and surfers (all of us.) The 205 was the obvious choice . . . without getting into the X15 or X10 pricetag!

I think pro tour, viper was 1-2 shadew toward burgandy. One tip for the slalom, put 400lbs in the nose in the center and it makes a big difference. Also if you can ski at 15 off the bump is less. be prepared for a hard but not big bump and stay on edge and it is very servicable. Even empty the wakes for boarding are outstanding.

Took the boat out for the first time yesterday. I see what you mean about the bump. I do ski at 15 off but it was bigger than I expected coming from my X5. Are you suggesting 400 lb in the centre of the seating in the bow? For now I'll just try playing with the ski locker ballast.

I put a 400lb sace sitting on the front center seat and in the walkway. Doesn't take away the front seats. The bump isn't big, just hard. If you stay on edge not too bad especially above 32MPH. I have also at times put 400lbs of lead under the front seat but then I have to haul it and I worry about lead, water stops pushing when it hits the water. I am considering a wakeplate but hate to drop $1800 not knowing what it will get me.
