This weekend I changed out my impeller on the boat I just purchased, bc it had not been done since 2009. It turns out it was a good thing I did, bc two of the fins on the old impeller were starting to rip. My Thermostat previously read between 140-160, if I remember correctly, but now it barely gets over 125-130 at the most. Would a new impeller cause the temp to drop that much or could it be the start of a defective thermostat? I wondered if it was even reading anything, but noticed the next morning that it had dropped all the way down, below 120. I called the local dealer and he said it was normal to drop a few degrees and not to be concerned. I ran the boat all weekend with no issues, but I just wanted to get some thoughts. The picture below shows the temp before I changed it. The new temp was somewhere around the first blue mark to the left of the needle.

I would change the thermostat if it's running that cold. It's much more efficient at its rated temperature.
