I would like to get some feedback on the ski wake on late model (2010-2012) X7's. Does the added weight of tower and ballast make much of a change in size or hardness of the wake. Specifically at 22 on up at 34mph. Purpose would be mostly for 3 event use.

At 22 off yes the added weight will be noticable. However past 22, the 28 off wakes are great.

I have skied behind a 197 and a X7, if you empty the ballast on the X7 they are almost the same.

22+ off great wakes...I have never liked the 15 off wake with or without a tower.

Sully has it right.

This is the boat that I ski behind the most.

Bump at 22, but no problem if you keep the ski on edge.

32 off and down...butter.:)

it's just like having another person always in the boat, sometimes I ski 22 off with 1 in the boat, sometimes 4, but ya deal with it.

Are you selling your brand new boat already?

I have a 2008 prostar 197 with a minitower. I also have custom ballast added to the back so it is pretty much an x-7. Because most of the weight from the tower is balanced closer to the bow than the engine, I have found my boat to make the exact same wake as a prostar 197 with no tower. Maybe I am crazy, but the tower doesn't do much. I ski at 38 off so I really can't tell you much about being further back, but my fiance skis at 22 and 28 off and she has mentioned that at 22 off she feels like she is hitting a speed bump. She has said the exact same thing about the 190 and 197 with no tower. She apparently doesn't like 22 off. I think once you hit a certain speed or line length, the difference is close to nil.
