Check this out... looks like more to the story with this boat....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-Mastercraft-X-9-Wakeboard-Boat-NeedsWork-NO-RESERVE-/280952538328?pt=Power_Motorboats&hash=item416a1384d8#ht_500wt_1182

Is the ECM missing in the pictures? Looks like connectors are there for the ecm...

Also, do you think the hull has lost its integrity because of the heat the boat endured during the under dash fire?

Engine looks a bit scummy...trans cooling lines missing... etc...

IMHO I think it's overpriced

He clearly states in the ad that it needs an ECM so I'm guessing you didn't read the ad. I would think you'd have more money into it then what its worth by the time you were done working on it.

1k-3k maybe, people are nuts expecting $10k+ for a totaled boat.

stay away from that mess IMO. You hitting the river today? My rub rail is finished tomorrow so won't be out until Wednesday. Thinking about heading up to the chain for the boat races on Thursday. Sorry for jacking your thread but looks like you got your answer already ;)

We'll be up there with a 2013 Supra most likely.

That looks like a tar baby.

Short of owning a boat shop and having the resources to do it right, I would avoid that.

Having redone several boats, stay away from it. Too much technology, it will never be right and it will be a pain in the butt to sell. You could never answer everyone's questions honestly. You will regret buying it and so will the person who buys it from you. This would be your "World Record Towed Boat". I don't think it would be dependable.

I think the seller discovered more than what he is sayin and trying to get out from under it!

I too think its been under water.

Looks like he had same boat for sale on craigslist in July for $9995.... http://tulsa.craigslist.org/boa/3154094289.html

in my opinion, if the trailer is healthy its worth $2k to 3k. the rest is questionable. the component parts, metal parts, and tower maybe worth another $1k to 3k. If engine is operational worth another few thousand. Be prepared for engine rebuild (worst case).
The tower is missing the rear legs in the photos.
the close up on the outside of hull looks like its been patched.
Best advice would be to view it in person before you buy. take a mechanic with you.
My guess is no one will bid on it for $10k. then after the sale ends, you could make offer for half or less.
Just my opinions...

yeah you're right can't - I browsed the ad...was more interested in what the experts here would think.

I appreciate all the feedback...

I already used the rule on these types of projects... gonna take twice as long and cost twice as much as you think...
