Pondering an X55 and have my heart set on the 7.4L because of the power and the size of the boat but I see a lot of them being offered with the 6.0L. My question is can you load 16 people all your junk all the ballast for surfing and still not overwork the engine? Thanks.

My personal opinion would be no. I talked to my local dealer that had one is getting an oil change and he said that the 7.4 got the job done but would never think of going any smaller. 55 is a huge boat. But again that is just my personal opinion

I would want the biggest engine offered in a 55

Agreed. I have the LY6 in my 09 X-45. I love the boat but she really has to work when we sac her out. Also, my boss has the big block in his X-55. That baby roars!!! Make sure you get the electric tower retro'd to hydro! Major issues there...

Rule of Thumb:You can never have an engine that is too big in a big boat!!!!

You will love it in the long run. Were running the 6.2L in our X45 which does an amazing job. That would be the minimum i woould go inthe X55. That is a big boat

Go 7.4 - you won't regret it. the boat is 5K lbs... almost 2x my prostar that is power by 275 ponies.. if you can afford a new 55... You'll have remorse over not getting a 7.4L - but it's easy to talk when your not dishing out the $$$ for the boat.
