How long do the steering cables normally last? I have never replaced the one on my 91 Prostar and am wondering if it would be wise to go ahead and do it now.

Been through this - really depends on use - I had a 1989 that I sold last year that never went bad - others have issues on 3 or 4 year old boats - kind of like everything else, just depends on how cared for, if boat was left out or left on water vs. trailerd and dry-stored. It should be greased regularly (my service guy does it yearly with oil change) - I now have a '03 X2 - still butter smooth.

I have greased mine every year and has been dry stored so I thimk I'll hold off.
