Is there any way to make a 190 prostar sound louder. Do they have different exhaust that sound different?

Kind of like a Harley why make it louder (cause I love that rumbling sound) My son had an 84 SS and I guess his pipes were up a little more out of the water because it sounded fricking awesome when he got on it.

Heck for that matter with the tunes on nobody can hear anything

can you take the mufflers out and rePlace it with heavy wall PVC?

not sure seems like pvc would be susceptible to the heat?

C'mon guys...who cares if the guy wants to make his newer boat rumble a bit more? It's not as if you're all advocating mufflers for the older boats to keep the sound police happy.

Growing up w/ a SN 2001 which sounded fantastic, I can appreciate the desire to recapture that sound. Not ridiculously loud--just enough to put a smile on your face. I don't ever plan on "rodding" out the silencer on my X2, but would not mind in the slightest if it sounded like that old Pleasurecraft 351.

I've seen and heard the PVC route done and its awesome. Louder but not obnoxious. I've also seen and heard just going straight hose from riser to flappers and that was about the same effect.

If you're leery of PVC you could use this. But your exhaust is water cooled, so you should be fine either way.

There is a fantastic write-up on a different brand's web site regarding a 4 inch manifold back dual exhaust with fly-by videos and everything. He used the above linked product and Stainless Marine manifolds and outlets on an older '87 model boat. Will send pm.

I had to install 'silencer mufflers' in my 190 08 tt with a 6litre and they did the job. It was really loud and rumble before that. So if u want it louder cheak it doesn't have silencers mufflers in it, you might just have to remove them or put standard ones back in it.

I pulled the silentmasters on my 1995 with the LT1 and replaced with PVC. I'll dig up pictures for the thread soon.

I don't care if some of you say too loud. I love it, it's just the right amount of noise. I was on the fence at first, but hearing it leave the dock with me on a ski behind it and I can't ask for more. Plus it only cost you $30 to do it. If you don't like it, swap it back in 30 minutes.

would love to see those pics. I almost bore drilled my silentmasters on my 1994 LT-1 to get better sound. did you use a 30 degree bend and the usual PVC glue to make your bypass?

No go on the reef flip flops, Vineyard Vines was the brand of the day. Even classier!

I will say that the loudest things get with the PVC in place (inside the boat) is from 5-15mph. After that it quiets down a bit. I haven't tried wake surfing yet, but that is the speed where it would be loudest. I can still have a conversation with someone in the observer seat at any speed, so it cant be ALL that loud...

REEF FTMFW!!!!

Anyhoo I do plan on swapping in PVC when I rebuild the original motor when ever that happens. I love the sound of an old flat tappet V8 thumpin at idle, and when I cant be with my hotrod, our mastercraft is the next best thing. Shouldnt be too hard and all my lake neighbors love the boat anyway so louder the better is fine all around.
