So...today is my girlfriend's and my 3 year anniversary. Wanting to do something special, I decided it would be a fun surprise to get professional pictures taken by a friend as a surprise. I had it all planned out that the dog and I would wake up early, i would make her breakfast in bed, take her to get her nails and pedicure done, then grab the Harley for the first shoot. Well, she woke up earlier than she planned, not getting the breakfast in bed (but still a full meal prepared by me), and during breakfast, she had mentioned that the mall wouldn't open till noon (outdoor pictures planned for 11:15) and it had just started to sprinkle. I ended up getting her in the truck, headed out to grab a couple things at the store (but in reality was searching for an open nail salon) and then convinced her that we needed to take a quick Harley ride while the weather broke.

While filling up the Harley, my friend came out of no where and surprised her stating we were doing pictures. Caught her off guard and was pleasantly surprised - as if this was the only surprise i had planned all day. Got a couple different spots done, came back so she could change, switch vehicles, get the dog and the ring.

When we got to the next spot, the photographer wanted to "try" a new pose where it would allow me to get completely ready unbeknownst to her.

Pictures below of as the day went on - thought I would share the first rough edit.

Oh - and she said yes!

I wish you guys many years of great memories. I'll give one piece of advice that my father-in-law gave me to keep a lasting marriage (he's been married 54 years)... he said:
"Son, there are 5 words that will get you through the good and the bad of marriage and keep you 2 together for life. The first 3 are... I love you.. the last 2 are... Yes Dear."

I'm curious as to what others got as advice from their future father-in-law at that time of your life? My future mother-in-law first words were "welcome to the family, son. And you can expect to be grilled by her brother with loads of questions."
