Im about due for a new prop on my 84 S&S its not dinged or anything but after a few years the silty water in the sacramento river wears the cupping down on the edge of the prop and the fuel consumption goes up. Anyways I currently have a 4 blade 14x18 with the powerslot tranny. I was thinking about going back to a 3 blade prop what are the pros and cons of the 2 I hear the 3 blade puts out a softer wake compared to the 4 blade but also it uses more fuel.

Call Eric at OJ. Just went from a 4 to a 3 blade on my X9. Big difference in hole shot, control, and fuel. He can tell you exactly how a prop will perform.

That boat will be amazing with the OJ XMP 13.7x17.5 CNCd 4 blade. Night and day difference over the stock forged 4 blade on the 85 I had.

For the 1:1 boats I prefer the 3 blades. Powerslot needs the 4 blade.

I agree with BrianM. I put the OJ XMP on both of my PowerSlots and the difference is night and day from the factory 3 blades. If your prop isn't an OJ 4 blade, I would give it a shot. The manufacturing process does make a difference. :twocents:

I believe its a Michigan 4 blade that is on there now does do the oj props machined to tighter specs?

The XMP is a CNC machined prop. They run much smoother than the forged props especially the older forged props. Order a 13.7x17.5 XMP from OJ and give it a try. Nothing to lose. If you don't like it send it back. But I promise you will like it.
