View Full Version : Looking for Repairman Referrals

We purchased our 2004 Prostar 209 with a couple of bruises. The passenger seat and the bow seats have some minor tears at the seams. The gel-coat on the bottom of the boat has some scrapes that could use some attention.

I'm nervous about letting any "average Joe" marina handle the repairs when it comes time. I'm especially worried about the gel coat. The entire bottom of our Prostar is that flashy yellow so I want to make sure the new paint matches PERFECT, etc.

I've never had to take a boat in to a specialist for repair. Our Sea-Ray was flawless and never needed the attention. I'm aware that I could make various phone calls to surrounding dealerships and marina's to get the work done, however, I wanted to see if there are reputable people out there.

We live in the Indianapolis, IN area. I know of one MasterCraft dealer in Indianapolis.

Does anyone have recommendations for repair work in the Indianapolis area? I figured I would first reach out to the TeamTalk community before anyone else. Thanks for your help (as always)!

I'm not sure about gel coat repair so much, but I think for inboard work MD Boats has a good rep. (317) 257-7358. Haven't had my boat serviced there yet because I'm trying to do everything myself, but have a friend who's Dad used to use them a lot.
For the interior work, you might try Smitty's Marine (317) 545-4646. They put a custom zippered hole in my bimini for the Fly High, were great people to work with and very reasonable pricing. Don't know anything about Pinecrest except they're the local MC dealers and mine is 23 years old.
