Hello all, I just acquired a 1987 Prostar 190. It's interior needs to be redone, and after lurking around this site for a coupe of weeks I've seen a lot of recommendations for Jim "The Man" in TN that used to do MC upholstery, and mastercraftskins.com - well after getting quotes from the both of them, they were the exact same on price. Any way some of you think one may be better than the other? I'm also going to go by a local upholsterer who I've used before for other work, but in the meantime... Any recommendations for one over the other? Thanks!

edit: I added the only pic I have as of now, sorry it's not too good

I may be looking for some skins as well for an 87 if I happen to pick it up this weekend. What color is yours? However, we may just do it ourselves, so I'm looking for a place to buy the fabrics...

Mine looks just like this one: http://boatsalemarket.com/1987-mastercraft-pro-star-190/

I had the thought myself as well.... At least maybe buying the material myself. Let me know what pans out!

Where in Florida are you? I have a guy in West Palm Beach that does factory style work. At a good price

jasonba1 - thanks for the info on Viper

dmminfla - I'm in the Orlando area. West Palm is a little far... but seems like most places are willing to do skins via mail at least. What's their info? If I don't like anything local I may get some by mail and put them on myself or have someone local put them on.

does $1600 for just skins (no installing) sound high? I was thinking more along $1000...

That is not unreasonable. At that point, I'd get a pro to do the job.

I replaced 3 back seats on my 2009 X-star and 3 skins for the swim platform, all original MC. Had local guy put skins on existing platform as foam was fine. Price was 1200 plus 125 for skin install.
Back to factory new i am 100% satisfied.
