those are 2 things I dread being discussed during a limousine run.... it just never turns out well:(

But, I was thinking... It really seems like politics and religion have really lost their sight and goals in mind.
Was reading a webpage and it really just seems all about money, money, money...

I'm really not trying to incite a riot, but man something's gotta change!

U.S. Congress Salary History
May 15th, 2008
From 1789 to 1815 Congressmen received $6.00 daily, but only on the days they showed up. From 1815 to 1855 Congressmen received a modest salary, compared to the massive salaries of the Congressmen today. In 1855 their salaries increased to $3,000 annually. Then in 1865 they gave themselves a 66% increase to $5,000 annually. 6 years later they boosted their salaries another 50% to $7,500 per year. The American People became so outraged by the greed that congressmen were showing, that congress was forced to take a 33% paycut, which lasted 34 years until 1907, at which time they gave themselves another 50% increase back to $7,500 annually. They took two other paycuts, both of which were during the Great Depression, for a total of 15%.

In 1935, Congress voted themselves a 19% increase, then they didn't receive another pay raise until 12 years later, when they gave themselves a 25% increase in 1947. In 1955 Congress gave themselves a whopping 80% increase. In the years 1987, and 1991 Congress received 2 raises per year. 3% + 20% in 1987, and 4% and 25% in 1991. Within the last 10 years Congress has raised their salaries 8 times for a total of 26%.
While the lowest paid American Workers have only received 1 raise within the last 10 years.(I don't understand this part, but I disagree if they're talking about COLA)

As Adam Savage would say.....

IMO and others I have seen is why our DC leaders are more worried about being re-elected rather than serving the people.

And like me, most Americans have no idea what’s in the health care bill. I just saw on the news some of the procedures/tests that insurance companies will have to provide free of charge. The following day I get a check from my insurance provider for $86.00. The “Affordable Care Act” requires insurance companies to spend 80% of their premiums on health care costs (actual claims). My provider only spent 75%, so they are required to refund the 5% back to their policy holders.

I don’t mind the $86 check, but it scares the hell out of me that government can tell a company what services they must provide AND how much profit they can make. Where will it end?

From http://www.bartleby.com/73/1593.html - Quoting a a conversation from our constitutional convention..in 1787 - a delegate from Maryland asking Benjamin Franklin

QUOTATION: “Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?” “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Already then there was a fear of governmental overreach squashing freedoms earned by the blood of so many revolutionary soldiers....

Scary as hell!

I have seen another version of this. The U.S. is insolvent with outstanding liabilities....scary stuff agreed.

At 52 I know when I can collect social security at 67.5 - there won't be anything to pay me. And of course then there will be means testing... and all who are responsible and have savings will be screwed. :(
