View Full Version : 1983 ss 440 power slot prop

My 83 stars and stripes has a 14X20 left hand prop on a 1-1/8 shaft. I tried to get through this season with my prop but not going to make it. I know someone had a prop out there but I lost the email. Anybody know where I might find a good deal on a new or used prop? Also, this seems like an odd size, is it the right prop? Seems to work well.
Thank you! Email me at email@example.com

You could try Eric @ OJ props. Maybe buy one, repair yours for a spare?
Wow, your boat must have a holeshot like a rocket! 440 with powerslot.....ya hoo!

My '82 S and S with a 425hp/454/Powerslot has an OJ-15x20CUP. I talked to Eric at OJ props a few years ago about this prop, and he told me that this prop that is on my boat was designed for the BBC 454/Slot and is a rare item.
It may be the same with yours....

Youre in luck. There are a ton of props available in the size range that you need. The 1.5:1 reduction and 1-1/8" shaft size is the most common combination used on v-drives.
Acme has 10-12 props that would be worth considering. You'll probably benefit from something with a touch less pitch than your original 14x20, as the new CNC props have a ton of blade surface area and act slightly larger than their dimensions would indicate, when compared to the traditional hand finished props. I would guess that something like the 907 (13.5x19) would be the hot ticket for your combo. Call them and ask.
