I have a 1989 PS 190 861hrs engine ran fin for about a 3/4 of a mile at about 2300rpm then slowed to idle and it died. I could not get boat to start then only able to start with alot of throttle. Boat will run in nuetral at high rpms but will not idle. Pretty sure it is a carburator issue seems to flood out at idle. Any suggestions or fix ideas? Boat is all stock 351w holley carb. Carb only seems to get fuel on front 2 barrels

Might be a good time for a rebuild on that carb if you haven't done it recently. There are a ton of parts in the kit but it's really easy. Just for your info, the rear barrels in the carb are vacuum operated so they only open when there is heavy load on the engine so they wouldn't open in fast idle.

Thanks for the info jfw432 I too believe it is time for carb rebuild. Do you know where i can find a carb parts diagram or schematic?
Open the choke plate while it's running. If it evens out, it would indicate that it needs more fuel. If it dies because it needs less fuel, it could be a leaky float.

Sounds like a carb rebuild would do it some good. or always start it WOT.

I bought this kit from summit racing and it comes with a schematic. My carb ran ok but the rebuild cleaned up a lot of little problems that were annoying. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-703-47/?rtype=10
I can't remember where I found it but I did a search for 4160 carb rebuild and found some site with tons of pictures. Even with as good as the step by step pictures, nothing compares to just pulling parts off the carb one by one. If you're a little bit mechanically inclined, you'll be fine.
