Was on the lake tonight in my 04 X2. Had been boarding for a few hours when I thought I felt a shudder and a quiet clonk. Then about 2 minutes later the whole boat vibrated and there was a loud metallic sound. It was like I had hit something! Turned it all off straight away.

I then restarted, engine ran perfectly and pulled away slowly. The boat drove ok but when power was applied it vibrated.

Have taken the boat out of the water and checked the prop and shat. No visable damage and no movements there shouldn't be....

What have I broken!!

Thanks

Possibly the damper plate, between the engine and transmission.

in certain circumstances you wont be able to see a prop that is out of balance, mattscraft hit a log once at surf speed, terrible, terrible vibration and the prop looked 100% ok.
check the run out of the shaft, if thats ok remove the prop, drop it in the water and run her up to RPM. you obviously wont go anywhere, but you'll find out very quickly whether its the prop or tranny.
