I'm the new owner of a mint, one owner barb wire edition x star.

I've read a few threads about these boats on here from a few years ago but can't find anything recent.

Are there any other owners of this edition on here ? Does anyone know where the other boats might be ? I've seen two, one was for sale in Florida and the one I have now.

I recently upgraded from an I/O and so far love this boat. I'm glad to be a mastercraft owner.

Weird. Ryan pops back up on WW like 5 days ago asking about the new star and his old one pops up. Please tell me the tower isn't that filthy blue any more. I never thought the boat was that ugly but the tower was a disaster

I read something about this Ryan guys boat, all I remember is someone saying something about structural damage. Not this boat !! I received the original sales receipt and the build/option sheet when this boat was ordered when I purchased her.

If I recall it was Ryans mommys and daddys boat

The tower supports are faded from the sun, look kinda purple now, I will be changing those or getting them coated over the winter along with the speaker cans and light housings

So what was the story on this rig? I read the posts, but couldn't figure out what all the jibber was about.

I think ttu was making fun of the Ryan guy for being such a tool. Just so happened he owned one of these barbed wire stars, and as a result posted the thread for comedic relief. ;)

What was the issue with it to start with?

ryan's xstar had many gel coat cracks issues that mc brought back to the factory. I don't know how many of the "barbed" xstars were made.

and yes he is a tool!! a spoiled one at that.

The WW thread is classic and right up there with the famous "Lon's X80" thread. If you have a few hours to spare, read them, they are absolute entertainment:D

Are the graphics a wrap or are they in gel?

I remember TAOD (The Art of Design) doing a couple

Not a wrap, no.

The story I got from the original owner was it was painted in Chicago

Does it have a TAOD emblem anywhere. Typically on the side near the back or on the transom?

Not sure the owner but those pictures that flashydubber posted are from Buckeye Marine in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada. So I guess there is at least one north of the border as well!

From everything that I've read, two were north of the border.

Looks like it needs a good cleaning !!

Nothing that I've noticed, but I will look. I sent them an email to see if they could give me some more info on the boat and the paint.

That one is at buckeye marine.... low hours too. From what I heard the owner was looking to trade it in for a new x-star.

It was getting cleaned up for the season...

Does anyone know the history on these Barbwire editions? Did they pull PWT at the time? I always thought they were a unique edition (that and the 40th Star) but the Barbwire ones seem to be few and far between. To the original poster, that is a great looking boat in great shape congrats to you on finding one (of an apparent few) and one that is in such good condition.

It was just a special edition that Mastercraft put out. I think they made 5 of them but later could have done more. The guages have yellow backrounds which were in the 2004, so they are either left over guages or the boat was made in 2004.

2005 X-stars have yellow guages as well. (mine does)
Red guages in 2006

Nice barbed wire edition! Congrats!
