1990 Mastercraft ProStar 190 ski/wakeboard boat with trailer. 351 Ford inboard engine, wakeboard tower, fish finder/depth sounder, teak swim step, boat cover. Runs good and strong. The boat needs an interior. Floor is good, just seats, bench, engine cover need redone. Clear title. Mastercraft trailer. Asking $5000. Please look at pics of boat in and out of water plus pic of NADA values. Reasonable price for a good running boat.

If you have any questions, please call 386-402-4181. I'm located near New Smyrna Beach, FL.

I think you are mistaken...that is not a 1990. Please check the VIN #.

The VIN # has 90 at the end of it. The windshield was replaced I believe, but the VIN # shows it is indeed a 1990

I hate to see one get to that state....definitely looks to be an 86

this is an '86, pic from onlyinboards

That's an 86.

That boat didn't come with a 5.7l in it. A 5.7L is a chevy 350. That boat came with a 5.8L ford 351.

Hate to say it, but the price you're looking to get out of an 86 that is in just above "poor" condition is more in the range of 2500-3000 bucks. That monkey bar isn't helping it's cause either.

Check the title for the year... if you don't have a title, knock another 1500-2000 bucks off what you can expect to receive for that boat.

Good luck with the sale.

As said above that boat is an '86 no ifs ands or buts about it. The last two digits are not the year. Also as said above you are asking about double what it may actually be worth given the condition.

It has the Ford engine in it. The boat runs great. It does need an interior, but I stated that already. I'm not the original owner and the wakeboard tower was on it when I got it and the interior wasn't in good shape when I got it, either. But it runs strong and pulls a skier/wakeboarder very well. Yes, I do have a title and the VIN # on the title says it's a 1990.

Please post the Vin #.

That way we can break it apart and go thru the lettering and numbers and tell you exactly what you have.

You might think that's a 90, but it certainly is NOT a 1990.

The 90's look completely different than that boat, and you'll pay much more than 5 grand for a 1990... nearly double what that NADA value states.

These boats have a huge following, and the people on this site know their stuff. When we tell you it's a 1986, it is a 1986.

The VIN is stamped on the right rear of the boat. You can see it in the pic of the back of the boat you posted, just below the rub rail. Post a pic with that number clearly visible please. Also, if your title says the boat is a 1990 than your title is incorrect.

That truly looks as if someone cut a vin from another boat, and fitted it onto your hull. That boat is not a 1990. I think the person you bought it from had something shady going on there...

That's too bad.

what about this interpretation???????

it's very strange that there is a gap between the B & the C to me

MBC- Mastercraft Boat Company
R - ???? Should designate the motor and trans combo?
A - Prostar 190
BN6 -Serial Number
I - Sept
4 - 1984
90 - Model Year

I think that something is amiss here as others have said

now I could have entirely duffed the above

All I know is that the windshield was not the original windshield and the wakeboard tower was added after the fact. It wasn't a factory installed tower. Other than that, we haven't had any problems with the title, or registering the boat, etc. The people I got it from have since moved and I don't know where they moved to. We've had the boat a few years and have used it for wakeboarding, but the last couple of years haven't had the money due to the bad economy to really use it and most of our friends had to move out of state for work, so we don't even have people to go wakeboard with now. I can change my post to reflect what is believed to be the actual year of the boat despite what the title and VIN say. Whatever year it is, the boat does run very good and would be a great boat for someone who likes to wakeboard or ski and can replace the interior at the very least. Mechanically, the boat is sound, but it does need the interior replaced. Floor is good as well. That being said, if everyone says it's an 86, I can change the posting to reflect that it is an 86 instead of a 90. The price is negotiable as well.

Is it common for Mastercrafts from that era to have gaps in the VIN like that? Every VIN I've looked at on boats its all together, no spaces like that. Anyone have any info on that?

This all just seems to be a little too "fishy" for me.... And im not just talking about the fact there is a fish finder on a tournament slalom boat..
And thats all I gotta say about that

Please look at my posting of an original 1990. The hull design and windshield are different.
looks like a 1986 to me. Sorry for the bad news.

Like everyone had already stated it's an 1986. Even if the 1990 replaced the windshield to an 86 , you would have had to replace alot more to turn a 1990 into 1986 ! Dash is 86 , graphics 86 , trailer 86 or maybe older since the frame ends at the wheel well. And most importantly the hull is 86 ! a well taken care of 86 will sell at your asking price . Hate to tell you but your gonna have to sell at no more than 3k .

Well...not to chime in but l Have a 90 and that is most certainly NOT a 90. Looks to be an 86' by the striping as l believe that was the only year it was offered.

Good luck with the sale. I don't think anyone around here will buy your '86/'90 (or is it '90/'86) MC. Does that let the cat out of the bag?

Like Everyone Said.. Definitely An 86...and Not A 1990. Good Luck With The Sale, BUT WITH A SKETCHY VIN NUMBER - MOST FOLKS WILL STAY AWAY FROM IT

You Will Definitely Get More For It Without That Tower On It! Thats For Sure!

HERES A 1990 MODEL:

I'm thinking this is a stolen boat and the HIN has been rigged so it could be passed on to someone who wouldn't notice.

I'd want to take a screwdriver and pry that plate out of there so bad!!!!
but, I'd bet it's probably ground up fiberglass under it

There should be a hidden HIN somewhere in the boat. Each year they moved them around.
