I'm in the process of modifying and adding to the existing stereo setup in my '05 PS197TT and have a couple questions regarding sub placement. I've got a 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect that is currently in a box, but I've heard that the 197's have a factory knock-out already marked for cut out under the dash in the kick panel. Can anyone confirm? If so, do you have any pictures? I've done a search but haven't come up with anything solid.

My system will be comprised of the Clarion CMD7, Wet Sounds Pro 80s on the mini tower, and the soon to be installed 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect (in addition to the stock JL Audio cabin speakers). The tower speakers and sub will be powered by a JL Audio M700/5 amp that supplies 200 watts RMS x 2 bridged for the tower speakers and 240 watts RMS to the sub.

I am thinking about repositioning the tower speakers. Currently, as depicted in the attached picture, they are in the upward position. This provides more room to maneuver with the mini tower, but it takes away my ability to use the bimini. With two young kids, the bimini is very important. With the Pro 80s, what is everyone thoughts/experience with hanging speakers downward on a mini tower?

Ours isn't a 197 (PS214), and it's a different style mini tower, but I mounted our speakers in the center over the motor box. It gives us room to move under the tower, and doesn't conflict with the bimini. Not the best looking, but works well.

^^ That's a beautiful boat. How does it handle rough water? (sorry to go off topic)

Thank you, If you are asking about mine. It holds its own. It nowhere near as good as say an X25, but much better than my buddys PS190. We fill the KGB ballast tank about 3/4 full and the bow sits down and cuts the waves pretty well.

There is indeed a space provided in the drivers kick panel for the sub. Sorry I do not have any photo's but if you put your hand on the upper portion of the kick panel, to the right of where the fuse panel and/or PerfectPass module are typically mounted, you will feel where the carpeting has no backing panel behind it. In order to mount your sub, simply remove the panel, which is held on by 6 screws I believe and you will see on the backside where the hole is, leaving you to only have to cut the carpeting to drop in your sub.
Hope this helps.

I have the 2010 197 with the mini tower like gts (sorry to this day I haven't figured out how to post pics on this site). I have two bullet hollow point 770, also large speakers. Mine our not mounted on the inside like above but on the outside. I will admit, I do smack my head probably once a season on them but I love the way they look and would never give up my bimini, also have a small one on the boat. Check Sodars radio install thread. Full of good info and pics to go with it.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up flipping the Pro 80s to the hanging position and moved them closer together and was able to install the bimini without any issues.

Added the Clarion MW1 remote over the weekend to complete my audio mods.
