Just wondering what prop you guys were running on the older boats (ie, pre 1997, etc)?

I've got a 1989 190 and was looking for something to give me a little more out of the hole.

With all the new CNC'd props there are on the market, its hard to know what to choose.

Thanks!

That looks just like my boat, but the wrong color.... I've got a 1990 Tristar 190 (1:1 tranny)...

I put the OJ402 12.5 x 12 XMP 4BLD on mine back in 2008, and we love it.

The original prop was in pretty bad shape when I got it, and after paying a shop a couple hundred bucks to refurbish it, it was still horrible. (vibrated badly and slipped/cavitation to the point I could barely get a skier up).. So I can't really compare to the original...

But we've been very happy with the OJ XMP 4-blade.

Older boats.... like a pre 1997!? what does that make a 78? SuperOld!!???

But seriously. what was OEM? I looked recently and I see I got a 13 x 14 - 3 blade (stamped on it); I had it refurbed last year...

I got an OJ CNC prop and it helped in both the top end and the hole shot. Compared to the original prop, it was definitely worth the upgrade. And then you also will have a back up prop if the new one gets bent (for emergencies).

ACME or OJ are considered the ones to get. I went 3 blade for ski wake.....some go 4 blade for wakeboarding.

I had an old, OJ 13x13 prop.

OJ XMP 13x12 3 blade. Acme 541 3 blade is another good choice. The new CNCd three blades perform better than the older 4 blades.

At least I am not the only one taking offense.:rolleyes:Well, 1997 was fifteen years ago.
Just trying to direct this thread towards the "more vintage" Mastercrafts.
Heck, I'm riding in a 1989 model! Didn't know how else to phrase it.
Lots of these threads are geared towards boats that cost as much as some houses!
I won't be asking questions about one of those boats until after I win the lottery! :)
