Newbie here. I just bought my first boat and MC a couple of weeks ago and I am thinking about putting some sacks in it. I would like to be able to surf and wakeboard. Any suggestions for weight (max and min), placement, brand, and type on a 92 prostar 205. What are main concerns when adding ballasts? I just want to cover all my bases.

surf...you won't be happy. I have '95 205... I run 2 370 lb sacs along sides of dog house and 200 lbs in front of dog house... makes enough wake to do inversions...with no problem...

wake is nice for beginners to intermediate...

more weight then that you would need to consider a different prop...plus I would not want to stress the boat with too much weight to surf.

1 - not sure what brand...got it used..

I just thought I would add to this. I have a 1998 Prostar 205 and I am running a 900 pound on the floor where the back seat goes and 1 each 540 pounds on either side of the motor and my surf enhancer on the platform. I get almost a waist high wave.

I've got a 1990 Prostar 190 and we've been using a 500lb sac across the back and between 2-3 people in the boat plus rider and it helps the wake a lot. This hull wasn't meant for big wake but the little we've done has helped. We wakeboard and surf with this setup and it's worked pretty well.

I bought a fat seat recently, the 1800lb version. Here is a wake shot with about ~600-800 in the fat seat and 300-400 in bow:

Thanks. I have no idea on speed, speedos don't work. I would guess 22+.

This was the first time I put ballast in it. I want to try filling the whole fat seat and find another sac to go up front.

What is a surf enhancer?

Probably means a wake gate? Check the wake gate thread, I have pictures of mine on there, still working on the surf wake, but for wakeboarding we run 750lb in place of rear seat, 350lb each side of motor, bag in ski locker and 375lb on top in bow, about 1450 rear, 625ish in front, nice wake at 20-21.5mph, stock prop will work but won't be happy with more than 2 passengers, hope to have my new prop this week! I'll try to get good pictures of my wake next week.

Super1990, you have to share the details on that wake gate, looks awesome, how are you strapped and any idea on the angle, any wake pics?
