Hey guys,

Has anyone heard both of these speakers for the interior of the XStar? I'm debating between keeping it stock or switching to the XS-650s.

Any opinions?

Thanks,
Matt

The Wetsounds 650 coaxials are great! However, if your factory JL's are 7.7"s it would be hard to justify going down in surface area. If you have the JL Audio 770 components they really need more power than what factory gives them to come alive. With a 100 to 150 watts of power to each speaker from a strictly regulated amplifier like the JL Audio HD900/5 or HD600/4 the 770s are incredible.

I would say the Jl will give you a much better performance inside the boat. Depending on how your stereo came setup from the factory ie amps n wiring you would probably benefit more by upping the power to the Jl's. They love good clean power.

Also the Jl's are a 7.7 speaker where as WS is a 6.5.

Whoops guess David beat me too it. Same post basically

I just upgraded my 04 X-Star from Clarion to WS XS-650. The clarity was much better from the Wetsounds than the Clarions but they dont get as loud as JL's. I would stick with the JL's for sure.

So I will add this as I don't think Tim gets over here too much. He just posted up on Wakeworld that Wetsounds is dropping an 8inch in boat speaker today. Just some food for thought.

Amp power will have more to do with the overall volume then the speaker will. Also, don't mistake an overly aggressive tweeter as louder. The larger 7.7 might = more mid-bass, but not necessarily more volume when amp power and tuning is equal

They are shipping now. They come in the black and white SW grill and the traditional silver grill.
