View Full Version : Tire and Rim Question

I have a 1987 ProStar with factory rims. 14 inch tires. Thinking about changing the rims out for 15 inch, I have rised the trailer axle 2 inches with steel blocks for the driveway 10 years ago. Just wondering what problems I might have... I do know the older rims are 4.5 center to center and most newer rimes are the same....

What is your existing tire size? Going to 15" is not a problem especially since you raised the trailer already. just need to figure out a tire size.

The ST205/75R14 that I sell is 26.1" tall and 8.1" wide. There is no industry standard so checking manufacturer specs is important in figuring out what tire size you need.

A 215/75r15 is 1.5" taller and almost .5" wider than a 205/75r14, approximate, as thatsmrmastercraft stated tire manufacturers do vary some, kinda like a nike will fit different than adidas, measure your existing setup so you can see how much clearance you have...

Tire width is usually more of a problem than height. You can, id necessary use a wheel spacer if you need to move your tire out from making contact with the frame.
