What fluids are people using in the zf v-drives. i have a 2011 x2 ( zfe 63IV) and inmar 350mcx. the indmar manual says to use 4L of 15w40 penzoil marine motor oil and the ZF manual says to use 4.4L of ATF fluid. can anyone confirm either of these.
cheers

You can use ATF or 15W40. We put 15W40 in at Indmar because it quiets the transmission significantly. ZF gave their approval for this and we have been using 15W40 since 2001 in the V-drive and ZF gear reduction (Power Slot) transmissions with great success. The 1:1 ZF trans still uses ATF.

Why not the 1:1 ZF trans?

Why not the 1:1 ZF trans?

The 1:1 doesn't have the same noise issues that the reduction gears have and ZF said not to use 15W40 in that trans. They are the manufacturer and I didn't question it.
