Ah it's a tough one but Clemson did what they needed to do. props to Watson, he's a clutch player for sure.

Bama is no doubt an incredible team and this is coming from a lifelong LSU team. Clemson did exactly what they needed to do to win this year and its the formula that you saw with Ole Miss and A&M.

I do think that Saban will be re-evaluating Jalen because the kid cant throw and Saban knows that can only bring you so far. The Defense carried them all year long and last night that showed. Jalen is an incredible runner but he is not a passer and coming from an LSU fan, you need someone that can throw the ball to win in College Football.

I wouldn't be surprised if they find another option next year and with a new OC, who is known for the spread, there could be some changes coming.

Cant Repeat - sorry dude, it may have a little to do with me rooting for your team last night.

Seriously, great season for everyone. The 2 best teams were in the final and the ability to muster Offense against a tough defense was the theme for all the College Playoff games.

I think the Lane thing is overstated, the Bama offense, especially when Bo left the game hurt was in trouble. They needed their premier back in the game.

Clemson came together at the right time and seems like a team of destiny this year. congrats to the Tiger Nation!

I actually thought Nick S. showed some relief in the post game talks ...

Great season everyone!!!!!

I guess I dont understand the targeting rule. I thought there were several plays last night that were "helmet to helmet" and cheap shots. It was happening on both side of the ball. However, the one that I remember where the cheapshots on Watson.

That first personal foul? I'm sorry when I player comes in swinging the arms at the head, that needs more attention that just a personal foul. That's not "setting the tone" announcers, that intent to injure

The helicopter play that sent Watson flying should have been reviewed. Came in with crown of helmet.

I remember an alabama receiver over the middle that got cleaned by 10 from clemson. In slow motion, again crown of helmet yet none of this was mentioned.

Last year Bosa got ejected in a bowl game and the quarter back even saw him coming.

Must be a slow day at casa CP. :D

Well, even slower the other day when I was bored at breakfast. I got into the refrigerator, grabbed a jar of jelly for my toast, saw the 'flavor' on the jelly jar and wrote the following:

I live in Ohio. Your company is based in Orville, Ohio which less than two hours from THE Ohio State University. So I have to ask, of all the names you could have come up with for this product, 'michigan Red Tart Cherry Preserves' is what you chose? I understand michigan produces the most cherries in the country however Utah is second and Washington is third. I get it, Utah is not the name to have on the label of a product, but calling your product 'Washington Red Tart Cherry Preserves' would make it taste that much better. In addition, tart cherries are extremely delicate and can be damaged in shipping. Have you driven on the roads in michigan? They are terrible, so I hear but I would never travel there. So what you are overtly saying is your cherries were beat to death before you used them to make your product. I suggest a name change as placing the word michigan on a product is not a wise decision.

I will no longer be purchasing this product until you change the name.

I haven't heard back from them yet other than an automated response that they have received the message and they 'appreciate my taking to time to contact them'.

Espn Radio this morning said not only is Tom Brady the best football player of all time but he is the best athlete of all time in any sport.

Yea, heard Mike and Mike this morning. I guess it has been too long since those guys have been on their knees in front of brady and they felt they were due. I will say, though, brady actually was quoted saying something that proves my point. I'm paraphrasing here, but he basically said whoever was here with this coaching staff would be successful. Proves my point, Matt Cassell. I can't wait for Garopolo to get traded and then flop. The test will be if Belechik hangs around after tommy retires and keeps going and makes the next guy as good. brady isn't even the best QB playing right now, let alone the best ever. If Aaron Rodgers was on the Pats they would have had a couple undefeated seasons already.

And trying to compare the greatness of Jordan to the sport of basketball and the 'greatness' of brady to football is just a ridiculous argument. Jordan has not been matched in any sport, period. Jordan is the greatest athlete ever. 6-0 in championships, completely unstoppable, completely unstoppable. You knew the fade-away was coming and you weren't stopping it, period. He could score at will. The greatest performance in sports was the 1997 Finals game 5 where he was sick, had a fever, was dehydrated, and still scored 38 against the Jazz. It's insulting to have watched that game and see that and then some douche with a microphone in front of him try to compare that greatness to someone as marginal as brady. Mike Greenburg would not have let that slide if he were in studio today. These comparisons were coming from someone who chose a nick-name of 'Booger' McFarland. What an idiot.

Oh, and they said Jim Brown was the greatest RB of all time which is also bull$hit. Barry Sanders was the best ever, period. Jim Brown played against guys that in the off season were working in steel mills. Comparing athletes from the 50's, 60's, and 70's can't hold a candle to today's athletes. It is an argument that sportscasters should not have because they make themselves look uneducated.

I agree with most of this. One could argue Brady's status among his peers today but he would have to be in the mix somewhere. Having said that. putting Johnny Football as Patriots QB would showcase some of the unseen talent Brady has in comparison.

The Jordan thing is just plain stupid.

I am an Oklahoma Sooner fan (I am sure that is on this thread somewhere).

My question is, has anyone heard anything about Bob Stoops retirement. Something seems odd to me! I had been concerned about the number of football players leaving the program for the last few months, so I wondered if there was a non-public side to the story?

Interesting Stoops fact - his teams won more Big-12 Championships than they lost home games.

Dunno, just rumors he was unhappy with the President. A lot of speculation he isn't done.

Stoops is great at being very good.

Stoops will resurface just like Urban Meyer did. I heard he's tired of the president as well. He could go just about anywhere he wanted as he's a great coach. What if he landed at Texas? Haaaa In any case he'll take a year off and go hunting or go on TV as an analyst.

Yup, we suck...at sucking. Nothing but success since cooper left. Is meatchicken going to compete with Rutgers this year? Captain khaki going to get dehydrated crying to the officials each and every game this season? I love watching him get pi$$ed, it is my own personal addiction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMd6Fv6OKfM

I could watch that over and over again. He is a worse crybaby than brady.....10x worse. I'll bet he has a standing chiropractors appointment on Mondays during the season the way he convulses on the sideline when something doesn't go his way.

Also, I've meant to point out something. How stupid is it for a football team to have the logo of a basketball player on their uniforms? They have the Jordan 'JumpMan' on their uniforms and coaches hats. I love Jordan, best ever, but is meatchicken confused as to what sport they are playing? Do they have little goal-posts on their basketball uniforms somewhere that I'm missing? Perhaps they have little hockey sticks on their baseball uniforms? What a dumb school......just fricking dumb. The 'wolverines'.....and they have 'winged' helmets. Do they teach that ostriches can fly at that school?

Top 5 QB's in the league per Pro Football Focus

1. TOM BRADY, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
2016 overall grade: 96.4

On a throw-for-throw basis this season, Brady has had no peer. He’s leading the league in percentage of big-time throws, while also owning the lowest percentage of turnover-worthy plays per dropback. Keeping that ratio in line is always a recipe for success, leading to a truly remarkable season for the 39-year-old. Two parts of Brady’s Hall-of-Fame game have improved this season: the deep ball (throws traveling 20-plus yards in the air) and his work on plays that last at least 2.6 seconds. His passer rating of 121.5 on the deep ball ranks third in the league, while he ranks second on those longer-developing dropbacks, a part of his game that used to be a weakness. Brady has managed to improve at this later stage in his career, and he’s the top quarterback in the league by a fair margin this season.

2. MATT RYAN, ATLANTA FALCONS
2016 overall grade: 90.8

While it’s a career-best year for Ryan statistically, his play is very much in line with other years of his career, perhaps showing just how underrated he’s been in the past. He leads the league with a passer rating of 136.9 on deep targets, as the Falcons have opened up the offense after playing a more conservative brand of football last season. Ryan didn’t play poorly in 2015, but he had some bad interception luck and didn’t get much help outside of WR Julio Jones. This season, he’s not getting picked as often on the bad throws, and the playmakers and scheme have been much better. Ryan has continued his fine work at the intermediate level of the field, but the added deep ball has helped turn the Falcons’ offense into arguably the league’s best unit.

3. ANDREW LUCK, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
2016 overall grade: 91.8

For years, PFF analysts stated that Luck was not playing at a level among the top-five quarterbacks in the league, as many had suggested. In 2016, though, he actually is. Coming off a disastrous 2015 that saw him rank near the bottom in every major statistical category, Luck has revamped his game from a high risk/reward passer to one much more willing to take what the defense gives. His 10 interceptions are not indicative of his new style, as we’ve charged him with only 12 turnover-worthy plays, so those bad passes are being converted into picks at a much higher ratio than most quarterbacks. Luck owns the fifth-lowest percentage of turnover-worthy throws this season after ranking in the middle of the pack or near the bottom of the league in previous years. Unfortunately for Luck, the Colts’ roster has limited them this season, and even in his best year, they may not get a chance to make a playoff run. He’s been under pressure on a league-high 43.8 percent of dropbacks, but he’s managed a passer rating of 76.3 on those plays, good for 10th in the league.

4. AARON RODGERS, GREEN BAY PACKERS
2016 overall grade: 89.7

aaronrodgers880

It was a slow start to the season for Rodgers, but he’s far too talented to be held down for long. He was not seeing the field as clearly in the early going, and perhaps trying to make too much happen outside the flow of the offense, which often led to missed opportunities and poor decisions. However, Rodgers has been the top-graded quarterback in the NFL since Week 7, as the Packers’ offense has finally started to click. Even in the early going, he still showed the same athleticism and arm strength, but he’s making plays from the pocket at a much higher rate. After putting the ball in harm’s way quite a bit early in the season, Rodgers now has the 10th-lowest percentage of turnover-worthy plays, and he’s up to 12th in big-time throws—both numbers that usually see the Packers QB rank higher, but he’s trending upwards in recent weeks.

5. DREW BREES, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
2016 overall grade: 87.4

Brees continues to pile up the numbers in the New Orleans’ offense, but a weak roster likely has the Saints on the outside looking in come playoff time. Brees has had his ups and downs, as he’s grading at 90.2 in home games and only 77.0 on the road, but the total body of work is still among the league’s best. He leads the league with an adjusted completion percentage of 81.3 percent, though it’s aided by an average depth target of 7.7 that is tied for the third-lowest mark in the NFL. While Brees has not had a higher-than-usual number of turnover-worthy plays—he currently has the 14th-highest percentage of such plays in the league—many of his turnovers have come in clusters or at inopportune times. Still, Brees is one of the few quarterbacks capable of carrying a team—something he’s done a number of times this season for the Saints.

Yawn.

The best 2 QB's on that list are the two guys they have listed last. Rodgers is 3 times the athlete that brady was in his prime and makes throws brady could only dream about completing. That throw Rodgers made against the Cowboys in the playoffs last season was incredible. brady couldn't have made it.

Brees averages 24 more yards passing per game than brady over their careers. Brees has 5000k more yards passing in one less season played than brady. Anybody can throw a 3 yard slant to some little slot receiver that isn't afraid to go over the middle like tommy. brady is the modern day version of Jeff Hostetler. Let's dink and dunk our way down the field. 'On this drive, brady was 22 of 26 for 64 yards.' That 2 yard out James White caught out of the backfield was impressive!

I can't wait until brady retires and the next guy comes along and does just as well. It will prove my belief that Belichick is the brains behind his success. Two words: Matt Cassell.

By the way, when was that written? It certainly is not a barometer of where these guys stand at the start of a season. I think you just have a side bet with someone as to how hard I would jump on this post if you put it up. Did I hit your softball as far as you had hoped?

Yes, it's a sight to behold two marquee teams playing in america's best, newest, most luxurious stadium. Unlike that shi thole Columbus. I did mention Columbus sucks didn't I? It's only second to Cleveland. No one goes there intentionally. Hell there isn't even a highway that goes thru Columbum.

93, you made a 3 grave mistakes. First, NEVER capitalize the m when typing that teams name. Second, that other team you referred to is commonly known as 'southern michigan'. Third, I don't know how to respond to your referring to meatchicken as a, eh hem, "decent team". Have you forgotten where you live? Please make these corrections going forward.

You couldn't get me to live in Florida. Last I checked, we don't have hurricanes, poisonous snakes, poisonous spiders, scorpions, very large snakes, humidity over 90% for 6 months with 90 degree temps, alligators, sinkholes, terrible public schools, and a HIGH concentration of blue-haired drivers ALL in Crown Victorias. Thanks anyway. I'll take my seasons, hills, well educated youth, and low humidity. The humidity alone is enough to not want to live there. June through September I'm out.

Its a nice place to visit, but I definitely wouldn't want to live there. I will say this however, March and April in Sarasota is as close to perfection as you can get, but other than that you can have it.

Well, then you prove my point about the public schools down there. Yankee. That is funny word I haven't heard in a while. I didn't think Floridians could use that word? I thought that was reserved for people in states above Florida, but south of Kentucky to use. Anyway, news flash, that word doesn't offend us. [QUOTE=captain planet;1375207]Isn't that the largest gathering of virgins you have ever seen? I'll bet meatchicken had to pay the military to land in there. The worst place to ever jump into. "Gentlemen your target is that hole in the ground under us with all the idiots in it. They think you have the ball and the game can't start until you get it there."[/QUOT

If you were there you would have an appreciation for what I witnessed

.....what did they do, have a video on the scoreboard showing virgin meatchicken fans how to put a condom on a banana? :uglyhamme:banana::banana::uglyhamme

No I was referring to the tribute to the military. There was a WWII man there who fought in Okanama (sp?), several other military personnel from the Air Force academy. It was a very touching tribute to our servicemen and women. It was far beyond any school allegiance. I would think even a buckeye dolt like you would draw the line somewhere but perhaps not. I'll say go USA long before go Blue. Have a great night enjoying the freedoms these people provide.

Oh Maristar, don't get your tighty-bluies all in a bunch. This is the college football thread and you posted pictures of that cesspool in the ground with the seats all around it in ann arbwhore and a guy parachuting into it...like I'm not going to comment on that! So, if the military has a pre-game ceremony in michigan stadium, I can't make fun of the fact they are having it in that staduim? Like they say on ESPN, c'mon Man.

I don't post much but had to on this. I couldn't believe what I just read from CP. To answer your question Maristar, no I do not think he gets it. For some reason he cannot step back for one second and leave football out of it. I get your point and I am sure 99% of us do. There is a big difference between busting someone's balls about their team (I am all about that) versus honoring the men and women whom defend this country of ours.

God Bless American and I have nothing against Michigan, could care less. Now the Longhorns....that's a different story.

Did everyone lose their sense of humor post Labor Day? My point was, of all the football stadiums they could have done this, they did it in michigan. Loosen up fellas. They did a pre game salute at THE Ohio State University with the Army which I thought was cool. They sent the entire teams out as captains and the teams greeted each other at mid field. I wasn't hating on our service men. Hell my nephew is in the Air Force so get a grip. If you can't see my point I can't help you.

THE point is don't use the military to fuel your insults. I know you didn't mean to step in it, but you did.

I don't think any less of you for it. I mean, how could I? :D
