It's really up to Alabama, would they rather play a team coached by Coach O or some new gun each year

I'm not hiding, asshat. I'm busy, got chit to do. I knew you couldn't wait to pile on. But, we still control our own destiny, win out and we make the playoffs, and we play a non ranked opponent and we still were on primetime on Saturday night because people want to see the Buckeyes, period.

I might add, the Bucks are a very young team. I don't think the expectation was to go undefeated this year with all the Buckeyes now playing on Sunday this season.

That's certainly not what you were spewing earlier this year. And that's Mr. asshat to you.

Go Blue!!

Well, I for one have lost my appetite for close games, however, I do love a good game. For me, I don't want to see Bama play second string players even if Bama lost to first string. I'm a fan but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Coach O seems to have the pulse of the team right now. I hope he is successful, just not against Bama. :D

Alabama players could murder someone on the field, and ol boy would still defend them.

I went to A&M...I also have shots of Tim Williams getting held. It happens every single game. I don't blame officials for a loss because they suck equally.

Don't get me wrong, not saying the officials changed the outcome of the game, just saying it would have been a much different game if #30 on Bama was ejected, Jalen didn't score, etc etc

A&M des the same thing almost every year. They win the first easy games and then when they get into the meat of their schedule they collapse. One call doesn't change the outcome of the game

From what was said today it was not targeting because he was a runner and not a defenseless player. Don't hammer me on that because I can't figure out what is and is not targeting half the time they call it. I don't think anyone truly understands that rule and how it is enforced. As for what would have happened if Mack Wilson (30) had been ejected? Not much, only plays special teams and comes in for mop up. True freshman.

I have the photos from the back side of that play and watched the video several times. That frame is from the play it just looked wrong because of the wall in the background was not what you would normally see from a shot going back (North End Zone has a taller wall with a fence on it, South has that short wall). It also looks like that was a very fleeting part of the play. I don't think he had the angle on that one but I know how frustrating it is. I watched that match up all day as those two will probably both be top 5 in the draft.

If stupid Photobucket wasn't down I have some other images that show just how bad the officials are. We actually joke about putting up galleries of missed calls - might lose our credentials though.

On a side note, I stood next to Miles and Hall as they warmed up taking a few shots for my son (MG his favorite player). Unreal how quick they are for their size. Those two are going to make lots of money. They were also very nice after the game.

My understanding is that targeting can be helmet to helmet of a defenseless player or crown of the helmet to helmet of any player.

I thought that was the case as well but being a runner seems to make a difference. The SEC office and the head of officials at the game made that point. I was listening to satellite radio College Sports channel and they were blasting the rule today because it seems to be interpreted by officials differently.

It was WAY more than one call. #30 did the same thing again on the next punt return by the Aggies and they cut to a commercial break REAL quick when the officials ignored that one too.

Quoted from the NCAA 2016 Rulebook:

"No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul."

This specifies a hit with the top of the helmet, but not necessarily a hit to the opponent’s helmet.

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:

Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet.

Enough Said. There is no mention of ball carrier or not. It was targeting, and they didn't call it. It's possible to beat the #1 ranked team, but you can't beat the refs.

Keep worrying about the officiating. The reality is this: after moving the ball 75 yards on seven plays to take a 14-13 lead, A&M ran 30 plays in the final 28 minutes for a total of 52 yards and zero points. That's 1.7 yards per play. Combine that with a turnover that generated points, and there's a very small chance to win. Even smaller when playing the #1 team with the #1 defense on the road. There's no such thing as a perfectly officiated game. But even if this game was perfectly officiated...A&M doesn't win.

One of my favorite ones was in 2004 when an unranked Ohio State University beat the #7 ranked wolverines 37-21. 2001 was also special for obvious reasons.

I can remember a lot before 2009...maybe because there's a lot of Bama vs LSU history prior to that time. [Nice attempt at a dig on bandwagon fans acquired as part of the 2009 championship run.] I was present in Baton Rouge for victories in 1989, 1991 & 1992. Yes, back-to-back wins in Tiger stadium due to scheduling changes required for the first season of east west play.

Imagine being on the winning side of the rivalry.

Statistics
Meetings total 80
All-time series Alabama leads, 50–25–5 (.656)
Largest victory Alabama, 47–3 (1922)
Longest win streak 11 (Alabama 1971–81)
Current win streak Alabama, 5 (2012–present)

BTW, I have many LSU friends. It's one of my favorite rivalries and Baton Rouge is one of my favorite places to see the Tide Roll.

I retired in Dec 09 and we started hanging out with a fellow retiree and his family. His wife is from Alabama and is a big fan to say the least. We then started going to their Sat football parties and it was a very contagious atmosphere. Both my wife and I are from SoCal and the fever for college football in the South just grew on us.

I hope I don't turn out to be a fair weather fan and more importantly, I hope I never have to find out!! :D

Just got my tickets to the Iron Bowl for this year, not a fan of either team but I'd like to visit all the SEC West schools for a home game before I die and I figured there isn't a better time to visit T-Town. CR, will you be anywhere near there Nov 26th?

Always a good game to visit...

If LSU beats Texas A&M, Bama stays unbeaten until the Iron Bowl, Auburn wins that, then beats Florida in the SEC championship game, and gets help from the teams that have yet to play Washington, Louisville and Ohio State, then a two loss team *could* get into the playoff. This is an absolute long shot "what if" scenario, particularly the part about Auburn beating Bama (or any team beating Bama for that matter but I honestly think AU has the best chance). Washington could easily lose. They still have USC and Washington State and a one loss PAC 12 team is out. Sorry, but that conference is terrible this year. Ohio State more than likely WILL lose at least one more. They have Nebraska and Michigan. Louisville probably won't lose. They have a bunch of cupcakes left. But if they did, then the interesting part of this scenario is that you couldn't leave out a one loss Bama team, even though they didn't win their conference nor even their division. So you'd have Clemson, Michigan, Auburn and Bama setting up a potential Iron Bowl rematch.

Here's a potential twist. Given all the above actually happens except Louisville doesn't lose another game. You'd have Clemson, Michigan, Louisville, and then would it be a one loss Bama or the two loss SEC champs that handed Bama their only loss?

The Buckeyes face Nebraska at home this week having barely survived a home game against Northwestern last week (24-20). This should be interesting, Bucks favored by 17-1/2.

Michigan State plays Illinois in the B1G toilet bowl and Michigan plays Maryland.

Go Blue!!

Bama favored by 7-1/2 this week will likely run over LSU.

.....I hate that I'm feeling this, but his weekend may be the end of the season for the Buckeyes unless they get their chit together. I feel the last game with any meaning maybe played on November 26th this season. Things are not looking good......:(

I am from Alabama. Lived here for 30+ years. Mostly Huntsville but Auburn for 5 years or so when my mom went back to school. I did the military route after high school. The plan was to go to Auburn after that, but life got in the way and it never happened. But sometimes I like to joke with people and tell them I played ball for Auburn. It was Auburn high school and it was basketball, but everyone assumes AU football. That's because college football is a big thing around these parts. Probably in part because there are no NFL teams in this state. The UA/AU rivalry got so bad they had to take a ~40year hiatus due to riots and such.

As for fan base, there is a joke around here that most Auburn fans went to Auburn. Most Bama fans went to Walmart. Over the last 7 years the sunshine fans have definitely come out. Maybe most AL residents can identify more with UAT? I dunno. All I can say is it seems MOST Bama fans didn't go there or live in T town. And I've never heard the fans of any other team use their school's slogan as a put down or in any negative connotation whatsoever. When I say "War Eagle" it is reserved for the ears of another AU fan and I mean it in a friendly, uplifting way. Yet I get a "row tad" hurled at me on the regular by some bammer who happens to notice an Auburn shirt I am wearing. So lame.

I have many friends who are Bama fans, and most of them are classy but even a few of them go all trailer park when football season starts. It's pathetic. I love the town and school of Auburn, but when I start hanging my self worth and dignity on what football team I pull for, someone put me out of my misery.

So if CR is a bandwagon Bammer, then so are most fans of UAT. But from what it sounds like, at least he's been to Tuscaloosa and actually attended some games. A great many of the rest of them haven't ever been to a game, and many haven't even stepped foot in T town, yet they are rabid tide fans.

I just want to point out that when anyone moves into the state of Alabama, their new local friends will badger them and force them to choose between Alabama or Auburn. You can keep your pre move in allegiances, but in general everyone wants all people in the state to be on one side or another for the Alabama vs Auburn game. If you're a grad of another SEC school, you get less pressure to choose between the to two, but some of our close friends who moved here from Virginia (they're JMU grads) chose poorly...they chose Auburn. A family we know from Indiana, they choose Auburn too. Not sure why they'd choose misery, but whatever.

Auburn didn't have their QB until the second half and even then he wasn't 100%, and they were missing a few players on D and Vandy had the game of their life. Yeah it was ugly but a win is a win.

LOL! Easy, CR. Not like the tide rolled on LSU or anything. And Arky put what, 30 on Bama? And then got destroyed by AU. Auburn didn't have their QB until the second half and even then he wasn't 100%, and they were missing a few players on D and Vandy had the game of their life. Yeah it was ugly but a win is a win.

And even though I kind of brought it on myself in this thread, whenever I get an RT slung at me in person, I respond with a roll turd. Knee jerk reaction. So it's only appropriate to reply the same way online.

For sure a very big Defensive game which we know are kind of boring. At this point, which I say every year after the LSU game, Bama will run the table! Trouble is CPs team wont so I don't get a rematch with the One and Done crew!! :D:D

I didn't think the game was boring at all. It's fun to watch two teams with phenomenal defenses play. There are *maybe* 2 or 3 teams in the country capable of holding Hurts and co to 10 points like LSU did. And Bama is downright scary against the run. Holding Fournette to less than 2 ypc? Nasty.

Finebaum is an arrogant, ugly, over opinionated pile of monkey sack

It's all an act...a made-for-radio/tv persona. In reality he's a shy, quiet, reserved type of individual. Talking heads are paid to be opinionated and go against the grain. Skill wise, Paul is an outstanding journalist. I have his first book, a compilation of articles that he wrote when he worked for the Birmingham Post Herald.

Anyway, I worked with Paul at my first real post college job. He had been hired as the afternoon guy at WERC-AM (a 5000 watt station) in Birmingham a few months before I was hired there. He didn't have many friends at the station because they blew out a very likable afternoon host to make room for Paul. I used to go in and talk to him prior to his show a couple of times a week. While doing radio, he dabbled in TV. He became the the sports anchor at the local CBS affiliate where my wife worked. His fame was starting to rise...locally. My wife didn't like him at all.

If you are a fan of his show, I offer this observation...Paul is an excellent interviewer. Listen to how it interacts with his guests...he builds rapport quickly, puts his guests at ease, and then still manages to ask the tough questions. It's worth listening/watching [to] his show to hear what the guests will say...you just have to put up with the Jerry Springer callers in between.

Yup a complete turd. Says he was trying to separate players but you can clearly see him hit the Alabama player in the head then flops like his a soccer player and then celebrates the flag.

http://l3.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/XdASlEAdEvjf6eR_pIhUMg--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjtzbT0xO3c9NTAw/http://l.yimg.com/os/publish-images/sports/2015-10-12/ff00f100-70ed-11e5-a1f1-e1bce8f252a3_bert.gif

He must practice all the time. Here he with intent ran into another Bama player trying to draw a flag. When first see the fat slob come into frame he is looking right at the player then raises his elbow knowing he was going to run into him.

Fooking a disgrace to all coaches.

So using the CFB protocol,

 Championships won
 Strength of schedule
 Head-to-head competition (if it occurred)
 Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)

You have to ask yourself this,

Neither Michigan nor Ohio will play in a championship game so how much weight are they, CFP committee, going to give to their own protocol? Does the winner of the Big Ten Championship game push someone out? Could there really be 3 Big Ten teams in the playoffs?

This really will be interesting to see how this goes. It has to be the toughest test of the CFP series and the committee thus far.
