loving those power rankings.... Utah has played 2 top ranked teams already and has several more to go. UCLA USC Cal and if Arizona State beat UCLA I'm sure they'll be tough too along with Arizona.

Good argument, I'm a Alabama fan but I see it as you do. The only thing I can think of is the way Alabama lost the game with Ole Miss. That being said, I don't see how Ole Miss jumped to 3 with the way they won that game. I'll agree there is some Bias.

However, I feel Florida and A&M needs to be ranked higher but too many people have last season in the back of their minds still.

Just saw the news. Ouch!!!!

Yeah - Definitely BAD News!

Florida Gators quarterback Will Grier has been suspended for the season for violating NCAA rules, according to a source.

Grier tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, a source said. The positive test carries an automatic suspension of one calendar year from the NCAA, which would mean he would not be eligible to return until Florida's seventh game of the 2016 season.

Grier Gave Gators Something to Cheer

Will Grier raised the level of what was mediocre quarterback play for the Gators last season. Here's how his stats compare to those compiled by last year's QBs Jeff Driskel and Treon Harris.

Grier's positive test was the result of something the quarterback took over the counter that he did not get approved by Florida trainers, Grier said Monday in a news conference. The school plans to appeal the suspension.

News of Grier's suspension was earlier reported by gridironnow.com.

A freshman from Davidson, North Carolina, Grier has thrown for 10 touchdowns, three interceptions and 1,204 yards for the eighth-ranked Gators.

Florida (6-0, 4-0) will travel to Death Valley to face No. 6 LSU (5-0, 3-0) in an SEC showdown on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Grier had been a breath of fresh air for the Gators at quarterback. He became the first Florida quarterback since Tim Tebow in 2009 to pass for more than 200 yards in three consecutive games. Grier's completion percentage, passing yards per game and TD-to-interception ratio is also the best by a Gator since 2009. His completion percentage (65.8) and scramble yards (154) rank first in the SEC.

With Grier out, sophomore Treon Harris will likely start for coach Jim McElwain's team. Harris started the season opener before giving way to Grier, but he was also suspended earlier this season for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Grier has a higher completion percentage (65.8) and lower percentage of passes off-target (10.2) than Harris (53.6 and 22.8), according to ESPN Stats & Information. However, Harris averages 1.8 more yards per attempt. Harris has appeared in two games this season and thrown for 269 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions.

HEARTBREAKING to us UF Alums/Gator fans. And if it was indeed an innocuous mistake, even more heartbreaking for a guy that provided much needed spark to the team. He certainly seems contrite in the video and if it's for real, then I feel for the guy. Now it's about choice--be a victim or learn from this and come back smarter, stronger and ready to lead again.

Well, only one of them was rank when that comment was made. Moreover, look the teams they have played to move up in the rankings. Lots of times you have to get 2 or 3 teams deep to even justify a teams ranking. Being #1 from last year and holding onto that ranking 7 weeks into next year when you have lost a lot of your key players and winning to teams that have played no one with record worth talking about seems to point to the question of, why are we still at this rank.

It's not just Ohio it's everyone.

I read this and all I can think about is how many times over the years I have heard the same song and dance regarding bike racers specifically in the Tour de France. I hope it's not true!

Let's hope our back up can get it on this week! Living in Louisiana, married into an LSU family, and being a UF alumni I was and still am pretty pumped. I guess it will make it much better when we win!

Saw on the news this morning that it was a PED in an "over the counter" supplement.

Hopefully, in the appeals process someone takes a look at just what a PED is. I mean if it's not prescribed by a doctor and can be purchased over the counter by any joe then maybe it's not a PED? Anyone know exactly what it was yet?

Your right. The early game is going to be a good one when Tottenham Hotspur hosts Liverpool. But then it gets tough to pick at 10:00 because Everton is hosting Manchester United, Southampton is hosting Leicester City, and Crystal Palace is hosting West Ham United all at the same time. They need to have a English Premiere League "Weekend Ticket".

Yeah, poor Clemson will probably choke. I hope the best for them too.

That top four is a joke, how does last year's champ, still unbeaten rank lower than one team that has never been there and one team that has a loss?????? For the life of me I do not understand!

Although they might not have played well thus far, they are still number one in my book until they are dethroned. No matter the schedule or performance.

Welcome to the college football playoff poll; it's where people consider strength of schedule in their votes.

You run the table of unranked division 3 schools and you don't get any soup!!! :D This will force coaches like Urban Meyer to start looking for rank teams to play during the year! I mean, really, how proud can you be when you've played no one? This is not directed at you, personally.

Schedules do get made several years in advance, each year is a little different and it is hard to predict who will be a cup cake, VA Tech was pretty good when we scheduled them for a Home-Home.

I did like when the Buckeyes played Texas home-home but that seems like ages ago. We also played USC ... either way not a big deal,

Just make the Top 4 ..... and let them play it on the field. Who knows we may have a 4th QB you don't know about ... :)

At one time, schoolchildren were taught that a sentence should never end with a preposition. However, this is a philosophy actually associated with Latin grammar. While many aspects of Latin have made their way into the English language, this particular grammar rule is not suited for modern English usage.

How are the teams that go to the playoff determined?
The four teams that go to the College Football Playoff are determined by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. The selection committee chooses the four teams for the playoff based on strength of schedule, head-to-head results against common opponents, championships won and other factors.

Don't get down on the Buckeyes, they have won all their games but 1 with what is really a backup QB, and I don't think any other team in the country can do that ... But we will see they still need to take care of business to stay in the top 4 .... Nana and Clemson have earned their spots as of this week, and OSU as well .. Hard to keep Notre Dame out right?

Well, that's not how this is supposed to go is it?

Well it looks about right, although the ACC schedule is not as good as it appears if you ask me, so the win over Notre Dame (with a backup QB) maybe a bit mis-leading ... but at this point in time any of the teams on the list can make a case for themselves by winning or losing.

The Big12 is getting a bit of a slight, but it will all work out in the next 3 weeks for them.

My Buckeyes will be able to make their case as needed.

My final four (prediction is)

Bama with 1 loss #1
Buckeyes with 0 losses #2
Clemson with 0 losses #3
Big 12 team .... #4
Notre Dame #5 with 1 loss if they beat Stanford

It seems, in general, you normally drop near the rank of the team you lost to. More so losing to an unranked team.

TBH, I still do not think Bama is a top 4 team. We've had a few good games and two very nice wins but still. If we play out the season in the same manner we played LSU then I can see it.

The thing now is, Bama has played most of their hard games and won. Auburn is always a crap shoot. The rest of the teams are now coming up on their highly rank conference teams so there might be an even bigger shift in the top four.

If both Ohio State and Clemson win out I don't see them flip flopping.. I would love to be wrong, but Clemson moved ahead because they saw something in them..

While a few turn overs by a new QB cost Alabama a win they have gotten better through out the season. A season of playing some very good teams, IE SOS rank #1 while the other teams have play almost no ranked teams and come very close to suffering some real losses.

I hate to keep bringing it up to the Ohio State bashers, but regardless of whether we deserved to get in last year or not because of that loss or weak schedule, we beat the other best Big10 team, we beat the "mighty" Bama, and then beat Oregon to take the National Championship. Enough said, drop the mic, I'm out...

Certainly not a Buckeye fan, but this post is dead right.

Again, nice try.

While a few turn overs by a new QB cost Alabama a win they have gotten better through out the season. A season of playing some very good teams, IE SOS rank #1 while the other teams have play almost no ranked teams and come very close to suffering some real losses.

Oh let's not forget putting to rest 3 Heisman hopefuls. DOH!

Roll Tide baby!!!

Wow you sure have a lot of excuses for that loss. I seem to remember Ohio State having a "NEW" quarterback against Alabama last year...............what was that score?:D

Yup, and Simms outright gave up 3 turnovers in that loss too. We all have excuses, but some are better then others.

Remember, last year is last year. :D So, now we all get to talk trash, again.

Do you really think they are 57th?
We can all find some kind of data, and you can explain it however you want.

The Buckeyes strength of schedule to date has been softer than some, but the next 3 games will fix that. Heck Iowa has been soft this year, they will get their chance.

In today's college game, it takes a great team to win 20 straight period. Don't hate ... schedules are made years in advance.

Bama 7 home games and some team from Charleston? And 2 other girl softball teams in mid season. Well spaced out by the AD ... not the toughest schedule in the country.

Alabama is tough, but c'mon guys they are 0-1 in the College Championship.

Here is another... It is ridiculous how Thug State and Ohio State and the like get ranked so high. They need to start playing somebody, then you will find yourself beat up by the end of the year. If they had the schedule of Arkansas or Alabama, #1 you wouldn't of even been in a bowl last year, or #2 you would have been so beat up you'd be playing with second string players like Arkansas is having to do right now...

I hate to point this out, but that is a lot of conjecture on your part.

I also like how this information appears to be taken before the two toughest games of the season for Ohio State. I only bring up Ohio State since you called them out.

Do you suppose this will change a little after alabama plays Charleston Southern this weekend and a paltry auburn team the following week? How about you post this again in two weeks to see where things will fall out with respect to strength of schedule. Just sayin'.

Nice cherry picking of data to fit your argument.

DD, you are only partially right....they SPANKED the other best Big 10 team, put up like 28 unanswered points and RAN ALL OVER alabama, and then SHUT DOWN the best offense in the land while rushing on Oregon when they knew it was coming and couldn't do anything about it.

Oh, wait. We as Ohio State fans aren't allowed to talk about last season....but others are. My bad, I forgot about the double standard that only applies to the 'southern ego conference'.

Bucks totally deserved their championship last season, no question.

I get that they schedule games years in advance. But do you really think some of these teams anticipate that they teams they're scheduling are going to be tough opponents in a couple years? I think not. There are a lot of cream puffs scheduled.

It's no cherry picking of data to fit anyone's argument. It's the data the sports analyst are putting out there.

Do I agree with it? Some of it sure. Do I think Alabama is the best team right now? No. But it sure is fun watching all you guys get worked up over it!! :D:D

Yeah, you won by 7 points; 1 TD. We had 3 turnovers so the only thing you need to be saying about last year is how lucky you got. :D

End of line.

Big Week here in C'Bus this weekend.

for those of you without a real opponent on your schedule, cut your grass, enjoy a nice ski run if your local lake is warm enough and tune into Sparty and Brutus in the afternoon.

Go Bucks!!!!

I also like how this information appears to be taken before the two toughest games of the season for Ohio State. I only bring up Ohio State since you called them out.

Had to do a double take. Looks like this guy is finally giving the Wolverines some respect. :D

I will never show them or any player that played for them respect, period. Somehow the coaches and sports writers have a number in front of their team name so I guess I have to acknowledge someone thinks they are good.

Uh, oh, captain khaki is taking off the puffy coat on the meatchicken sideline over a pass interference penalty. It would seem that if you were to put a patriots helmet on him.....he looks just like baby brady does when he is whining. It must be a meatchicken thing to cry to the officials so vehemently even though they are not going to just pick up their hankie because you whine like a little baby.

Just wondering if they let the buckeye's QB out on work release so that he could play today? Hope he is not too hungover to play! GO BLUE!!!!

Bad no pass interference call on Ohio. Typical of playing at home, and I thought the SEC refs were the worst!

Love those Spartans! Bucs deserved their championship last year, but have been grossly over rated this season.
