I will check my owners manual when I get home today, but when is the correct time to change the transmission fluid? I have heard that it is fine inless it smells "burnt" and you can go quite a while before changing it. I guess I am looking for the general rule of thumb. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Change it every 100hrs or two years whichever comes first. I try to do oil and transmission fluid in the fall so everything is clean during storage.

I don't want to start a "which way is better" thread - there really are good arguments both ways... I just want to say that I change both of mine in the spring.

I do the same as George, and I also clean the filter out as well. I've never replaced it.

Thanks, it looks like I will be replacing the fluid this fall when I winterize. Other than a suction gun are there any tricks of the trade that I should know?

Thanks again.

I use the pump that attaches to my cordless drill. Pump into a graduated container so you can put back in the same amount that comes out.
