So I know a few people have been wondering about the surf wave on the new X-30. Here is a screen shot of the surf wave with ONLY factory ballast (about 280 in the rear and 300 up front). The additional ballast is being plumbed in this week. The wake and wave should be even better. The wave has a lot of push and is really easy to stay on. Hope to have my boat back this weekend and then I can grab some better videos and pics of both.

Looks great.

The water temp isn't too bad for this time of year, is it?

The length is the best part. You can ride so far back on the wave. Coming from a 23 foot Moomba, on the X-30 you can ride probably an extra 6-8 feet further back. It's almost like cheating its so easy to stay on the wave.

scott023, the water temp last week before all the rain said 68. It was surprisingly warm.

I had the same water temp showing on my boat.

Wave looks good. Some additional weight will help out greatly. 68 degrees...yikes...way too cold for my liking. This thread will be moved soon when the mods see surf in the title...while the barefooting thread will stay in the general discussion threads indefinitely...no wakesurfing love around here.;););)

I'm in Southeast Ontario, our lake was 77 last Sunday. Going to be boiling by end of July.

Granted its a relatively shallow lake.

I liked it better when the water was colder... Already past the refreshing stage for a sunny day.

I couldn't agree more Heelgrad! Why does everything have to be moved into obscure, never visited sub forums? Took me a while to find it.

I am getting the ballast upgraded at MMS in Edmonton.

I could be wrong, but I thought sometimes when they move threads it shows up on MC facebook page? Your wave may be famous!

Great looking wave and can't wait to see it with more weight.

On the move, did you not see the forward link so you could find you thread. It's crazy that way.

No there was no forward link, not sure why, usually there is.

no doubt, we would only get a couple of months worth of boating if we waited for the warm water!

Not a surfer myself but that looks like a nice wave for just stock ballast.

Ya, I don't surf much either, mostly wakeboard, but it seems people are most interested in Surf waves these days which is why I posted it up.

The pics are deceiving. The wave on this boat is the best i have seen or rode. Long and clean and very well shaped. I expect the X-30 to be the in MC's top 3 selling models.

Look down a couple posts, the 750's fit nice in the new 30 lockers.

Let us know what you are planning on installing.

I had an old fat sack from our ProStar and put it in the starboard rear locker of our X30 and it made a huge difference. Granted it only added 250lbs or so but the height difference was awesome. I'll try and post a couple of pics this weekend. Being a new wakesurfer I didn't think it would even be necessary to add extra weight but once I did it's like a drug, I'm trying to think of my next move to add even more to get the wake even bigger.

Hey 501s - I also have a '12 X-30 and agree that the surf wake is incredible. However, looking at your ballast numbers confused me. I thought each factory side ballast was 400lbs?

Also, can you give more details on the pull? Speed? Anyone sitting in the back corner of the boat?

I don't recall filling the middle ballast when we surfed. Do you think it helps shape and increase the size of the wake a little better?

any chance we could get some pics with factory + additional?

thanks in advance!
