Can someone fill me in on what stock 09 -x-star prop is. MCX motor. I'm looking at getting a spare prop. Any suggestions on the new prop or just contact OJ.

Not sure what your stock prop is, but it should be stamped on the hub

What prop you pick depends on a few things.

-How much ballast do you run?
-Are you boating in high altitude?
-Do you do much cruising, does top speed matter (do you barefoot?)

On my '05 MCX X-star, I run an OJ 14.75 X 15.5 most of the time.
I'm at sea level, with less than 2500# of ballast
With this prop I can still barefoot @ 40 mph and cruising is fine too.

My spare is an OJ 14.25 X 14.5 that has better holeshot for more ballast and people on board.
I used this prop to pull Keith Lyman, good thing I did.......the boat needed the extra pulling power! If you load you're boat heavy, use this prop. If not, the other one works great for me.

Hello,

I will be running the boat at 1950ft
Expecting to run additional ballast of under 2000lbs
I dont do bare footing but Im on a large lake and do lots of cruising.

This is the prop OJ has advised I should get,
For the extra ballast I would suggest our 14.25 X 14.5 LC Splined XMP EDGE 4-blade

What do you think.

This is what came on my 08 Xstar with LY6 motor. It's their "high altitude" prop. I run at close to sea level but do a lot of surfing and I love it. It cruises well, fuel usage is reasonable and it's easier on the engine when loaded.

For cruising your rpm's will be a bit higher than with the 14.75 X 15.5 that I like to run. I have that 14.25 x 14.5 as my spare prop, but even a 5 mile ride up the river made the engine seem to rev higher than needed, plus it uses a bit more fuel.
Are you running an extra 2000# of ballast or 2000# total?
If you run near 3000# of ballast, get the 14.25 X 14.5, otherwise the 14.75 X 15.5 would be my choice (and it is) :D
