On Monday night a family i know of through some other friends experienced the thing I cannot imagine. A fishing boat hit their pontoon and killed a 9 year old boy and his 13 year old brother is still missing in the water somewhere. This family is a friend of a friend and I am fighting back the tears as I write this. Please be careful out there and watch out for the idiots.

If you are inclined to pray for people, the Prince family needs it right now.

What a Horrible Ordeal - They haven't located the one missing yet - I despise those boats - Just for that reason.
Very Sorry for your Friends.

While boating at night can be fun i've found the risks just outweigh the rewards and avoid it whenever possible. What a tragedy for all involved. Very sad.

The fact the guy was BUI and "ran" leaves me hoping they throw the book, and some at him!!

tragic ... absolutely so sad

very similar thing happened to our lake friends a while back ... no one was injured luckily but they ended up getting cited for the issue .. turned out the fishing boat owner was fishing buddies with the wildlife officer

sad day .. thoughts and prayers go out to them

Sounds like it will be a manslaughter charge at the very least.

Prayers sent

absolute tragedy :(
something that stands out in my mind.... if both boats were "underway" then the young boy that's missing should have had his PFD on... That's the way it is here anyway.
I'm not saying he did or didn't... the story doesn't tell me this.

I hate hearing stories like this, even more so when children are involved.

Another drunk idiot...when are they going to learn. l am in the Atlanta area it is all over the news. The pontoon took most of the damage it looks horrific...the center console fishing boat must have gone right over the pontoon as it hardly shows any damage. My heart goes out to the family.

I've seen this happen before - they round the bend - gun it - now opposing craft is the in the blind spot of the bow.
With out radar - a limit of speed should be the case at night.
As nitro noted - it had to go over the top.

again my prayers go out to the family!

The boat that took the life of at least one Buford boy on Lake Lanier was apparently purchased from his family's boat dealership.

wow, a customer on top of that, that would be a hard pill to swallow:(

What a tragedy. My heart goes out to the family.

One of our members here was hit late night at one of the csm events on lake Wylie. He was at wake speed as he didn't know the lake well at all. Bass boat hit him at an estimated speed of 50+ mph. Somehow nobody was hurt. A few were thrown about 15 feet from the mc.

I understand what you are saying but how are you going to enforce this. It's difficult enough to accuratley laser or radar a car but bring all the angles on the water it would be impossible.

Plus we have enough laws people just need to be responsible. If you cant see slow down
