I have a 1989 Prostar 190 with a 351 Windsor and a 1:1 transmission. Would it be possible to change out the 1:1 trans with a powerslot transmission? I am guessing that there might be a different size drive shaft, and with that a different strut. But, will I run into problems under the engine cover or the back hull of the boat?

Shaft size is different. Not sure when the hull began being a standard design, but I know in 83 with my slot tranny it has a bubble molded into the hull to fit the bigger prop.

Yes, you can. But you will have to replace not only the transmission , but also the shaft, strut, and prop.

Could you guys check these pictures to see if the hull in the back will accept a larger prop for a powerslot trans?

Thanks

Like east tx said, you'll have to replace shaft, strut and prop. Rudder should be okay. Why do you want to do this? Can't believe you don't have enough hole shot with your setup.

At that point, the hulls were the same whether there was a 1:1 or a 1.52:1. Larger wheel should fit.

I don't think you will see a huge benefit to the power slot for the cost involved. You'll probably get better performance for a lot less money by re-propping.
