So I bought my 97 Prostar 190 a few years back...finally got it in showroom condition and everything fixed (knock on wood). While fixing and updating things I did a lot of searches on here, google, and yahoo. I noticed that my year and model is not very common, which I find hard to believe because the Prostar 190 is MC entry level boat. Other than my 97 I have never seen another one forsale, and i chekc graigslist, here, and ebay frequently.

My question is, why the 1995 to 2000 year prostars hard to find inofrmation on and for sale?

I've got a 96 I bought last winter. Maybe so few are for sale cause we love them so much we don't want to part with them.

Yeah I thought about that too. I love my Prostar (and the fuel consumption it gets) but I can't imagine that's the reason.

I've got a 96' ProStar 190. I've owned it for 10+ years and have always been amazed at how it does on gas. My friend has a 2006 197 that uses almost twice as much fuel. Why is this??

More wetted surface on the newer boats = more drag = more power required to push them = more fuel.

Entry level boat? ouch... best wake on the 190's... but Easttx has it right...I love my 205 wake...took me a year to find... when they show up they go fast....if they are in nice shape.

here's a nice one... not a 97 but close... http://www.mastercraft.com/market/showproduct.php?product=4307&cat=5

I have the 1995 PS190. Great wake, very little to break, easy on the wallet, easy on the eyes, and fits in a normal garage no plans to sell :)

Ya I agree, I know i can go out on a Saturday and be out fo about 6+ hours and not even burn a 1/4 tank of fuel skiing, tubing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding. I have a friend with an X45 who burns a tank a day... idk how thats affordable. I love mine and the lack of fuel consumption!!!

Have had my 97 since 2005. Perfect slalom tug. The boat skis great and is one of the favorites at my club. I surely couldn't justify more than twice the cost of my boat for a "better" 197.

What is the best prop for the 95-97 PS 190 (with 1:1 and TBI) for skiing 15'-35' off?

Ive been running an OJ XMP 13 x 11.5. I tested a lot of props on this boat and this one gave me the best results.

I'm also using OJ XMP 13x11.5 the difference it made to my boat was remarkable.

What rpm do you run with that prop for 34mph skiing?

I have a 96 MC 190. Bought gas today for the first time in a month. Slalom ski every Sat and Sun morning. Had since Feb 1997. No plans to sell. Heard too many stories about newer ones. LOVE it!!!

3290 at 34mph 3500 at 36mph. The prop is killer. Great grunt out of the hole and bite at ski speeds but good rpm at ski speeds.

Look here for a comparison I did of three different props on this boat.
