All previous X-stars had tracking fins, did you expect differently? I don't know how effective they are on a boat as heavy, with as deep a v and that drives relatively slow as these do. I'm no engineer, but it seems more necessary on a flat bottom inboard at higher speeds. I like them nonetheless whether keeping them on for tradition, or that extra differentiator from other boats in the lineup.

Hey, it looks better than the 1 lonely fin on the bottom of the G23.

That is a picture of the prototype they showed at surf expo. I wouldnt put too much faith in what it had or didnt have. Heck, I saw that boat on display at an event and it didnt even have ballast tanks in in it. The motor was just bolted in for show and didnt even run and was not even hoooked up to anything. No fins on that boat would mean much to me from a comparison stand point.

My '03 Maristar 230 had no tracking fins, my '05 X-star does. It makes a big difference in my mind......the X-star will out handle the 230 all day long. Neither boat is a flat bottom, but tracking fins do help in the turns for sure.

Me too. Better than the old school ones on the pwt boats.

Well no one has riden behind it yet.... And at 120k give or take, hardly any one will besides pros who are given these things for free.

As for fins, like JerseyDave said, they do make a difference in v hulls. My X2 didn't have them and I can tell a difference in tight turns. Maybe MC should just stick fins on every model.

So pricing is estimated around 120k$ ?

I just pulled that estimate out of the air with no info - just speculation. It will most certainly be north or $100k but with options and engines, the range will be big I'm sure.

Base price will be around $105k plus options. It's $20k more in base price over an X25.

Someone has surfed behind it and I'm surprised no one has said anything yet. Zane surfs behind them all and I'm sure he would have some input.

I can see that is a different boat, but what is it? The Deck (side) looks like the ex-star, but the swim deck and a step with the sea deck. Not that its important.

Tower Racks "Wake/Wake"? Is there another option?

I talked to the Seattle dealer, Darren Lamont, today and he invited me to a ride on the new X-Star today, which is in town for the PWT this weekend, but unfortunately I couldn't make it. I suck, eh?

Darren said he'd post a report on the boat.

Correct craft owns the patent for the wakeboard tower.

I'm surprised there isn't a "drop-in-carpet licensing fee". Just shows that if you want a new X-Star you're really gonna pay for it.

Should I feel guilty that I just cashed out the kids R.E.S.P's (education savings plans) and some of the wife's spousal R.R.S.P's to order Build Sheet 1, 6 and 7?

MattsCraft

Correct craft owns the patent for the wakeboard tower.

Only on 4 point towers, the 2 point tower is not extended or part of the patent, probably why every manuf. went with 2 point towers.

You have the option to get the ski extensions on one or both sides, which you prob would not do on an Xstar:rolleyes:

Just looked at my 2012 order sheet. There is a $60 Licesensing fee for the ZFT5P power tower.

I cant beleive CC is making $$ for every tower on the market, even aftermarket. Im surprised MC doesnt have patents that they are able to collect from other mfgs.
