We may be looking at a new boat for us. Very sad as I will have to part ways with my beloved 83 S&S which I have loved for 8 years.

We are looking at a 2009 PS 197 TT on a single axle MC trailer.
My question is.......my garage is 20x20 and I angle my current boat now with a fixed trailer and fixed platform. Total rig 21' 3/4"?? I think.

Will a 197 with a swing tougne trailer and taking the platform off also fit????

Thanks to you all for your help.

Close call. The space in my garage where I park my 197 is 21' deep X 20' wide. It fits but it's tight -- where it's sitting tonight, with swing tongue in and platform removed there's about 16" between the transom and the back wall of the garage. With some patient maneuvering of the trailer, I could probably get a few more inches of space.

At least the boat you're looking at is on a single axle trailer. That would make it more maneuverable, easier to move around in your garage to make it fit.

Thanks. Is yours on a double? 16" sounds ok by me. Maybe 4" to spare on mine but with the single axle I may be able to tuck the from up into the corner more.

I really think it will work.

Yes, mine is a double trailer. It's very difficult to move around by hand, compared to my old 190 which was on a single axle trailer.

I think you'll be OK. Good luck with the new boat. Like you, I was sad when I had to sell my old 190, but the sadness quickly disappeared after I bought my 197 and started using it. :)

I just bought a 2007 Prostar with a tandem axle trailer. The garage at the house is just shy of 21'. Even with the tounge folded and the platform removed, couldn't get it to fit straight in. Had to have the brother-in-law help move it by hand. Fortunately the garage at the cottage is 24' deep and can back it straight in.

With your garage being 20' x 20', just know it will probably have to go in on the diagonal.

Unless they changed something on the trailer between 02 and 09 it won't fit straight in. I have an 02 197 on a single axle with foldable tongue and I have to put it in on an angle and my garage is 21 1/2 feet deep.

I have a 20' deep garage and both my 205 and 98 SN will fit at an angle with the platform on and no folding tongue on the trailer . . . but only just.

If you're willing to sacrifice garage space for the boat, and I don't think there is anything at all wrong with that, you should be fine.

Like everyone else said, I think you will be fine. My garage is 19' deep and 22 wide. I have to angle my X7 in, but if I get it just right (stern to the wall), I can give myself enough room to move the big blue trash tote. I have to back half way in and push the rest, but it works.
