Looking at loaded 2010 X45 for around $80k (not sure if thats a good price or not??) or new left over 2011 X35 for $84k with new power tower. Have family and will want to teach kids to surf, ski, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions? Will save sales tax obviously if go with 2010 (120 hrs).

Thanks for suggestions.

Based on what I have read here - skiing tough on x-45.. sales tax wise...only a few hundred bucks different. Probably save a more $$$ with x-35 in fuel consumption...haven't physically looked at these...what does the extra 7" give you on the 45? only 50lbs heavier...

how about some pictures....I'm PS person fer sure...so my advice is a bit slanted... :D

Well except for the ski part.. I am 100% an X-45 person. I think it is by far the best MC layout and boat.

The 2010 is used so no sales tax at all. The 2011 is new dealer left over. Both optioned about the same. The 2011 has the new power tower. The sales tax difference is probably around $5k. Never been in an X35 - layout looks about the same with exception of walking on seats vs. walk thru. In total X35 one year newer probably run me $6-$7k. Not sure if its worth it or not. Full warranty sounds good though!

For the sales tax issue it depends on the state and who you are purchasing from. In some states there is no sales tax on transactions between private parties, so it's possible sales tax could be thousands of dollars different on a used 45 vs new 35.

I'm not super familiar with 45 pricing, but 120 hrs isn't much. $80k seems a little steep though.

Does the 35 have fridge/sink? If so, go 45 for sure. Engine sizes? The PT is a big $$ upgrade.

I have a 35 and i am pleased how it handles in rougher seas. It does , however ,require more ballast to get a good surf wave due to the deadrise. I wish the 35 had the walk through area on the stern like the 45, but due to the ride i am glad I have the 35. Ideally you want to be out only when its glassy, but thats not always going to be the case. Just take into consideration where you will be operating the boat.

I have the 35 without sink and fridge. Memorial weekend I had 12 people in the boat. 7 adults and 5 kids . At no time did i feel crowded or uncomfortable.

Good problem to have!!! Help your deal out and take their leftover. Buying used does not help the industry!!! Plus you get warranty and the power tower. love x45s but wit the :5 you'll get ILmor power too!!!!

Thanks all. Leaning towards the X35 and just found out it has been registered with 20hours so no sales tax issue! Full warranty is a big plus and may even buy an extended. Any thoughts on extended offered thru MC? The engine is 6.0L and I think that should work fine. No refrigerator - wouldn't want one with it as it takes too much space. Wife wants more of a "family" boat and the sitting higher may work for her.

Let me know any thoughts on extended warranties. The only reason I'm leaning that way is I had an previous boat and had to get a reman for it!

have you checked with your dealer for sure about the sales tax, In AR if you buy used from a private seller , you don't pay sales tax but if you buy used from a Dealer , you pay sales tax on used, Just does not seem fair , expecially for dealers

Personally if was me, I would take the X45. One reason is the tower, I assume the X45 comes with the 4 point ZFT3 which I prefer more than the power tower. I had a PT on my last 2 boats and now have the 4 point. Im much happier. Good luck, they are both top knotch. :)

This thread is almost two years old... Think he has made his purchase choice already. :D

Hey Brian, what is it that you like better about the ZFT3? After owning the ZFT4, I wouldn't want to go to any other tower. I love the 2 point tower for visibility and the ease of folding in unmatched.
