Well we are almost complete with the basement. It's been a real fun and challening project. Hopefully when we sell the sweat equity will have been worth it! Here's a few pics

What, no mirrors on the ceiling? If I have taught you anything it's mirrors on the ceiling! Why no purple trim? If I have taught you anything else it's trim everything in purple! :friday:
Nice job!

Here in Florida, homes do not have basements. It seems that it would be nice to have that extra space. Your basement looks great Jeff!

I'm impressed. I finished off my basement a number of years ago and know how much work I put into that. I am surprised you had time to get out on the water at all this summer.

I am sure you will find the investment of your time and $$ well worth it. Enjoy you new space!!

We started in mid June and pretty much finsished up a week ago. The bathroom we haven't got to down there, I think I'll hire that done, I am burnt out and to busy with work to take that on. I am happy with how it turned out. I figure we'll have 9-10k in the completion (including bathroom hired done) and hoping it is worth about an additional 20k to the house price.

That looks awesome Jeff!
$9-$10K seems like a great deal for how it turned out. Looks amazing.
Wonder what I could do with my crawl-space? :D

Very nicely done. I finished my basement 2 years ago and just finished the bathroom in the basement only because we put the house up for sale.

Yeah, that ceiling looks great! I am definately considering getting ready to start thinking about finishing off a room in my basement...yeah, I am that sure. What did you use for that ceiling? I need to have access to pipes and such if a problem should arise, did you use a removable ceiling product...ist sure doesn't look like one? Thanks...oh...looks great...when do I move in?

Jrandol,

Very nice! We just finished all the landscaping this summer so my fall/winter project will be starting again on the basement.

We have the bar and workshop done, but now to get everything else done around these 2 items. Gotta start with the highest priorities ;)

I'm sure you'll get alot of use out of it. :headbang:

Jrandol,
great job! I have had mine in process for over a year, working at it a little here and there. I finished the bathroom first knowing this took the longest and cost the most. I did it all myself since I don't really like dealing with contractors.
I like your ceiling, what did you use ?

Most places in California don't have basements either.

Wish I did...........

Did you prewire in surround sound speakers to go with that new plasma T.V.?

Forgot to mention that it Looks Great.

Congratulations.

Yeah, 12' sheets of 1/2" throughout. Ugh..... why you see a seam?? I'll give you a hint. Don't go in the bedroom closet until I get the shelves in place please. Wife and Mom= not good sheetrockers :purplaugh

Nope, sheetrock ceiling. I consulted with several realtors and the consensus was that don't do drop ceiling if you want the best resale value. So while it took a lot of extra time we went sheetrock throughout.

Jrandol...The rope lights look good.

If you want somethign else like that to look good, you could do it under your kitched cabnets. We have that in our house and it looks really good at night. And you dont stub your toe if you go for a late night snack.

Hey Jeff,
My basement is empty, roughed in for a bath, and ready for your help.

Sure! Maybe we can get Mag to help with the painting, I'll lend a hand in all my spare time  What part of Dayton you live in? I was there all day today and will be there all day tomorrow

.

I sure did! I actually have over 1,000 feet of wire up in the ceiling! We ran wires for 3 different confiqurations allowing us or the next owner 3 completely different locations for the TV and surround sound speakers.

Shot from the tile looking under it all. And then a shot of what it looks like standing up. It looks real good and is not very hard to do or expensive.

I found it...I lost this thread for a little while...

Anyway...yeah, the ceiling looks great! Maybe I can figure a way to have a portion of the ceiling permanent and a portion removable so I can get to the mechanicals.

Parks...you've just inspired my next project I think...love the lighting!!!

We get so many comments on the lighting and it was easy to do. We didn't do it our builder did when the house was being built but all it is is rope light tucked in the lip of the cabnets.

Those pictures do not do it justice, it looks really good in real life.
