Can anyone enlighten me on how to install the standard, factory mirror? In came in a bag with about 20 parts with no instructions, even some pics of the finished product so I can backwards engineer it.

I can post a few more pictures this afternoon of how the brackets work, but basically there are two silver plates that are screwed into the metal framework of the windshield. The U-shaped arm attaches to the plates as well as the mirror. I started a thread a few weeks back asking about where to put the mirror. I want to move mine, as this seems to be in my way at times...

Thanks,

A couple pics of the backside would be good too, let me know where you move it. Was hoping to avoid the permanent screw holes.

That's why I havent't mounted mine yet, looks ugly as hell and feel like a Busdriver with it...and i certainly don't want screwholes in the windshield frame...

but how about this one, got to ask my dealer about it, i actually like it and it looks like it's not screw-on

i have this one it is a graet one and very wide, no screwholes needed it is clamped. You will love it but it is expensive, the cheaper one has a black plastic backside but this looks really beter:D

I have looked into those mirrors. They are $$$ but very nice. How do you feel about that mounting location? When I sit flat in my seat, I look below it through the windshield-no problem. But when I fold up the "booster seat" to improve visability it is right in the way.

I think I've seen a photo somewhere that just shows the clamp on the windshieldframe, no mirror, on a new x-star, no idea if it's easy on/off but it looked ok, but i just can't seem to find the photo again...

The clamp mount mirror is the way to go. Our new 45 came with it standard from the factory. Not sure why yours came with the style you screw into the windshield frame but if you want to upgrade and spend the cash it's well worth it.

That mirror is the PTM Edge bracket and mirror. Expensive as hell but the only real "nice" option. We just got one of those.

Does it seem secure, or do you feel like it would work itself loose over time? And, where do you have it mounted?

Actually I never use the "booster seat" so I have no experience with it. I did put mine a bit more to stbside because it is so big people walk against it while going to the front

X2 on the PTM Edge mirror bracket. I purchased mine from the Protomet website. Very happy with it. It locks in the up position and locks in the down position so it doesnt interfere with the cover.
