Very nice! Is the Power Tower offered anymore? Most boats are coming without it...

mim3
05-31-2012, 10:53 PM
This is the third MC in the family and a few years back had the opportunity to visit the factory and drive the boats. I have a lot of respect for the people that design and build these marvelous machines.

The 30 replaces a 45, so I guess we "downsized".

Sorry, but there is an open spot on the lift!

Looking forward to posting some wake pics.

I noticed you didnt go with the pro package. Any particular reason why you passed on that?

mim3
05-31-2012, 11:07 PM
Good questions! Not a fan of the power tower and was encouraged not to order.

Considered the pro package, but in the end a few points swayed us not to order.
-simplicity (less to break)
-longevity (will you be able to obtain a replacement screen in 5, 10, 15 years?)
-early performance complaints

We did order the zero off.

cant say I blame you on this one at all because it seems more folks than not are having issues with the BIG system.

Hey Mim3, so what was the time frame from start to delivery? My X30 goes into build on June 12th. Hopeing Portland Ski Boat Center can get me the same idea of pics as your build? Been contemplating a law suit on Mastercraft for not getting it done fast enough?:D I have been losing sleep and not eating much over the excitement!:D I cant Wait!! Look forward to seeing more pics! Your boat looks beautiful!!!!!!!

mim3

Best estimate was just over 4 weeks from order to delivery. From what I could tell from the factory updates it took them about 3 weeks to build it. I'm within a day drive from the factory, so that didn't take very long. Perhaps I caught them at the right time. The forecast is for sun reaching 90F by the weekend! Good luck with your build!

NICE looking boat.

I bet you were high as a kite after breathing in all of those fiberglass fumes for that long.

Will be adding the Rev8's to the tower.

We had our dealer add these to our X45. They are awesome. By the way, our boats kind of match. This is my Favorite color combo. Have a great weekend on the water.

mim3

The new tower will not support the Rev10's using the factory mounts and they are HUGE!

The Rev 8's were the only way to go!

mim are you in Michigan. Looks like that guy has an Action Water Sports polo on. I live in the Flint area and bought my XStar through them, great guys to work with. Put a deposit down, boat came over to the Fenton store from Grand Rapids and was mine a week later.

Yes, Hudsonville store. Action rocks! That is Chris in the photo.

BTW I graduated from Ainsworth.

Yes they are. I'm hoping to scoop up some new gear at the Fenton Anniversary Sale and Swap this weekend.

My step mom graduated from Ainsworth. Ainsworth is before my day, I went to Grand Blanc and played ball against what is now known as Carmen Ainsworth.

So my 2012 X-30 is going to be here on Tuesday. Spoke with my dealer yesterday and he said due to some unknown reason I am getting a Temporary Teak deck instead of fiberglass. Does anyone know of any issues on the new platform?? My dealer mentioned that there may be a problem in the platform that MC is trying to correct??

501s
06-30-2012, 02:03 PM
Well I got the folding platform on my x30 and it wouldn't actually fold down because it hits the wake plate. I just had it in for servicing/warranty and they sand a portion of the platform to fit but I haven't tried it out yet. Did you order the folding platform?

Is the X-30 Hull similar to the new X-star hull? Resembles the new X-Star.
Anybody know the geometry of the hull?

The only resemblence is hump back, otherwise its completly different. The X-Star is a pickel fork bow, the X30 is a standard pointed bow.

Thanks Bjames,
I totally get the difference in the bow.
Wondering if the hull/bottom shares any geometry?

thanks

Little or no similarities the 30 has a flatter transom similar to the older x1/x2 (first gen xstars) vs the 2013 xstar has a deeper v hull.

Here is a picture of the bottom of my 2012 X30. Kinda surprised that MC is still using wood stringers on their trailers:confused: I would think they would go with a composite type of bunk.

Maybe tensile strength to hold it's shape as composite is not there yet.
Might have to look at this product type closer.
Regardless - that's a wild view.

Sorry for being off topic but I read somewhere that the bulb nose strut is for waterskiing and that while improving proficiency of the prop it softens the wake for skiing wouldn't that be the opposite of what you want for a surf/wake boat? I've noticed the new x-30s seem to all have them from a couple of different pictures.

have there been any surf pictures with factory + yet on the X30? i've only seen factory+people...guessing we'll see some after this weekend i know there was at least one person adding on.

We have the factory plus 750 bags. With this the wave is excellent. Soooo much push it's crazy. Almost seems like cheating. If we have a calm day tomorrow I will get some pics an post them.

I've had my issues but the surf wave is definitely not one of them.

Composite wood Decking is typically thinner than 2x wood. It needs more structural support than wood and the wood will actually hold a shape to the bottom of your boat. Looks great though congrats!
