View Full Version : 2012 6.0 Ilmor Check Engine MIL

2012 6.0 Ilmor equipped X25 with about 6 hours now. Got a check engine light today on the VDIG (whatever the center gauge digital readout is called) which showed a "MIL" in the center. After turning the engine off and on, the code cleared. The BIG engine diagnostics showed no active or historical engine faults.
Loooooving the boat though, did more fishing than boarding today though water still 55-60 degrees here.

Sounds like it's happening to some more 2012s:

I believe it is an emissions sensor. I posted on the other thread. (see above)

I talked to the service manager about this the other day, he said to also check the **** Strainer for bubbles. Sometimes an air bubble makes its way into the cooling system and for a breif moment senses no cooling circulation triggering the engine light. Not sure if this IS the issue, but it sounds like a lot of us are experiencing this.
Also I was told that the BIG will not store inactive codes, so he said next time the engine light comes on, check the BIG for codes before you clear the engine light.
When I take the boat in for its 10 hour service, they will scan for codes.

Just thinking.... Seems like a lot of us got the engine light around the same time (around 6 hours). I wonder if that was programmed to force us to physically check the engine (Oil Levels)half way through break in:confused:
As I said before, there is nothing in the manual describing the Engine light /MIL indicator.

Bryan its in the Ilmor Manual. Something to do with emissions. I think u are right about it being pre-programmed.

Did you guys continue to see your MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) coming on? Did it just go away?

I still see mine every third or fourth time I turn on the key. No codes showing however. Is the strainer the filter-thing in the rear starboard compartment? Can you open this to clean it out?
